Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Women, careers, money, etc.

It's not a rant, but the Prof sure does unload a lot of info and insight in this short clip. "Of course you can just compare yourself to the few people who are richer than you and feel sorry for yourself, but that's pretty pathetic in my estimation"

Wow! That was about 12 minutes of non stop, off the cuff uncensored truth. Interesting to watch the body language of the guy to his right. I think he was really wishing he was somewhere else or that the speaker would be a little more PC. I bet he went home after this and polished up his resume expecting to be fired for making someone feel uncomfortable of sexually harassed.

I occupy a top position. I am president and owner of my own company. It might be small, but it's mine, and I run it 100% without help.

Women with a vision and leadership capabilities should consider starting their own businesses, rather than try to change a company's inner workings to better suit their skills and goals.

Many women are not natural risk-takers. And to be successful in business, you do need to take on some risk. My business growth has been hampered by that some, but I am now attempting to really push what my business can do by doing things that are not that comfortable to me.

I've had 20% growth or more every year I've been in business. It's about selling myself and my skills, knowing that I can take on more work and having a vision about how to add more employees when the time comes.
