We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

For sale

Actually, an online auction: 1949 International Farmall Cub Tractor


Entirely rebuilt. Perfect example of something I want but don't need. Golly, I know everything about that tough old machine. It will run forever. The Cub is identical, basically, to the larger version that I grew up with. Just shrunk.

My family had one of these for years. In the summer it cut grass, and in the winter it plowed snow. There are a surprising number of attachments available for this model. We even had a plow custom made, and used it to dig trenches. It was reliable and easy to handle, we loved it.

About 15-18 HP on a good day. Hauled lots of firewood with it and then set up Grampys flat belt drive cordwood saw. No bling, the real thing

Hubby used one of these for mowing our acre and a half, until it started eating the $80 belts to the belly mower.

My dad has one of the big ones built in the early 50's. Uses it to brushhog the paths in the woods behind his house. those things won't quit.

I have my grandfathers Model H, new in 1940. It sat in my yard, not started for 26 years until I bought acreage to be bush hogged. It started up and runs well.

My neighbor has one in his back yard. Gives the area kids rides. They are still very common. People still use them some.

Wish there was a person in that photo to give a better sense of scale. A pretty farm girl, for instance.
