We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Well, a real 24 pounder would have a bore of nearly six inches, you would have to load several tennis balls as loose shot. Since this item has a one inch bore, I'd suggest making a mold to cast lead shot a few hundredths under that, but a golf ball would be easier.
My yacht club uses a signal cannon that is breech loading for 12 ga. shotgun shells. I think that's a little more practical for the 21st century. I will neither confirm nor deny that we have muzzle-loaded it with hot dogs after breech loading it with blanks. Frozen hot dogs cause less fouling.
