Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

This is a very timely video for me. The university where I work has gone full-bore crazy with the diversity racket this year. We are being required to take workshops on "unconscious bias" (including the infamous Harvard test), "microaggressions" and more. I knew all this nonsense was out there, but until this point, it hadn't directly affected me.

Implicit bias has not been shown to be either valid or reliable.

That is, it doesn't predict any biased behavior, and you get a different score if you take it next February.

Ordinarily, that would just about be the end of it.
