Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

What are muslims doing at Amherst?
Get out, go home, you are not welcome in my country. False dichotomy.
Also, the "-phobia" suffix continues to be inaccurate. She's probably going to call me a bigot too.
Leftists love using words that have no substantive meaning to spread their lies and paranoia. Assistaant Village Idiot: False dichotomy.
The sentence was in quotes. You may want to explicate why it is a false dichotomy. Assistaant Village Idiot: Also, the "-phobia" suffix continues to be inaccurate. Islamophobia: Dislike of or prejudice against Islam or Muslims, especially as a political force. AVI correctly stated the suffix was inaccurate - (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/phobia).
As is your usual custom, you sidestep the issue.

mudbug: AVI correctly stated the suffix was inaccurate
As noted, the term is now used to refer to dislike of or prejudice against Islam or Muslims. mudbug: As is your usual custom, you sidestep the issue. Semantics wasn't the issue, of course, but aversion to Muslims as a group.

My comment was clearly directed to AVI's assertion that the suffix was inaccurate. I added a link to the definition of that suffix supporting AVI's assertion.
The fact that the common use definition of Islamophobia improperly uses that suffix does not change that. Similarly, the fact that seemingly educated black politicians in DC once thought that using the term 'niggardly' (by another black politician, no less) was racially insensitive does not change the fact that the word has nothing to do with race of any kind, much less blacks.

Gee whiz. From your own citation, phobia also means "intolerance or aversion". They even provide the example of bi-phobia.

What Non-Islamic countries have had an influx of Muslim immigrants and found them to be charming and grateful guests?

The vast majority of Muslims in the U.S make positive contributions to American society. Maybe you're thinking of the Germans Papists Italians Chinese Irish Jews Japanese Haitians Mexicans.

Absolutely.
The word is wholly political in origin, a threadbare and cack-handed attempt to silence those who disagree with Islam by portraying them as having some sort of "phobia". There is already a word in English perfectly suited for those who dislike anyone simply because they are Muslim: bigotry. However, Muslims who choose to live in a democratic Western society have no more right to have their religion protected from criticism than Christians, Jews and other faiths do. JJM: However, Muslims who choose to live in a democratic Western society have no more right to have their religion protected from criticism than Christians, Jews and other faiths do.
And people have a right to point out that bigotry.

The problem is believing that Islam is a religion. It's a belief system centered around violence and oppression, masking itself as a religion.
The interesting thing is that Islam in the end cannot be successful because if Muslims don't have people of other faiths to kill, they start killing each other. That's been the case almost from the beginning and goes on until the present day.

Islamaphobia is like Naziphobia that is based on facts and events. Hitler's mistake, according to Zach, is that he failed to declare Nazism was a religion.
Naziphobia: Dislike of or prejudice against Nazis or Hitlers SS, especially as a political force. You are a pretty good troll. You managed to change the subject to the definition of a word that doesn't even exist.
But yeah, they have to go back, all of them, rounded up and sent home. Fred: But yeah, they have to go back, all of them, rounded up and sent home.
You mean the Papists? Fred: You managed to change the subject to the definition of a word that doesn't even exist.
Islamophobia, irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against Islam or people who practice Islam Muslims are at Amherst to get an American education. Too bad they can't concentrate. And we DON'T need their contributions to diversity. Amherst has always enjoyed its insularity.
After viewing the story, She Jumped off the train to Auschwitz, it becomes very clear to me why we should not erase history. No matter how painful, there are always lessons to be learned and stories that should be told, never to be forgotten, never to be forgotten...
What irritates me the most about Hillary's corruption and treason is that for whatever reason the Republicans refuse to seek justice. At the very least a special prosecutor should be appointed. But I suspect that there is sufficient evidence already to simply prefer charges and arrest her and set a trail date.
Also why not retract the deal that was made illegally and fraudulently? Where is our government on this important issue? This should be a no-brainer. I just revisited "The Clinton Chronicles" which was produced in 1994 and recommended to me by a businessman who had to deal with the Clinton's while they were in the governor's mansion.
How the two of them escaped jail then is amazing. That he ever was elected president and she survived to run in the last election is mind boggling. My only conclusion is the NYT, WaPo and the electronic media ran defense non-stop, and the Internet had yet to allow for alternative coverage. For their antics selling off the U.S. bit by bit in exchange for huge speaking fees and donations to their very illegal chain of foundations, they should be tried for treason. Hopefully, Charles Ortel and his crew of supporters will reach sufficient voters that the DOJ will have to act. Those who donated to them -- almost all the big foreign governments as well as the Gates family and Internet heads -- are in big trouble if the Clinton Crap proves illegal. I guess they just write it off as The Cost of Doing Business. Korean TV news last night covered the "Me Too" sexual harassment campaign, highlighting Monica Lewinsky's "Me Too" and the fact that Bill Clinton has yet to be held accountable for his sexual predation and harassment of women.
You wouldn't get any coverage like that in this country. I continue to be baffled why two longtime career criminals like Bill and Hillary continue to be allowed to run free in this country, instead of being held to account and put in prison. Except for divine intervention, Hillary could have been elected president despite being the most corrupt political candidate in our country's history. In Israel, people eat Nutella sandwiches for breakfast.
Was discussing Nutella w/ a german co-worker yesterday. I thought it was too sweet in the US, but I liked the sample I had in Germany. He said it was same in both places. Regardless, too sweet for me. (shock)
Does exercise worsen heart disease? I take 1 capsule of serrapeptase daily to reduce plaque. Purely preventative on my part, but had discussion w/ by-pass patients who swear it has lowered their residual blockage. My guess on Soros is he is feeling his age, knows he is not going to be around much longer, and wants to make sure his legacy of interfering with elections and immigration policy in other countries goes on in the future without him. SICK MAN.
