Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Funny you kidz should mention that.
QUOTE: GOV. RICARDO ROSSELLO: First of all, we are very grateful for the administration. They have responded quickly. The president has been very attentive to the situation, personally calling me several times. FEMA and the FEMA director have been here in Puerto Rico twice. As a matter of fact, they were here with us today, making sure that all the resources in FEMA were working in conjunction with the central government. https://pjmedia.com/trending/2017/09/25/puerto-ricos-governor-dismantles-media-attacks-trumps-response-hurricane-irma/ Go away Zach. Don't need a turd in the punchbowl. That felt good.
"We don't have time to talk about the debt. We need to make sure we talk about the deaths," Cruz said. Yes, we never have time to talk about the debt. What debt? My heart goes out for PR and hope this can be resolved quickly. Statehood? Nah, we don't want it. F... the mainland. I hear ya. That said,we need to get them out of this horror show...they are Americans and our brothers and sisters and any of those other genders / sexes I understand so little about. Yes, Trump shouldn't have spoken so harshly to those multi-millonaires that have made the most of the opportunities that American has given them. He just spoke his mind, and though he may be out of it, he hasn't lost it. Lil Kim has his people trying to understand Trump. Why the difficulty? Although Donald Trump may not speak in Korean, he is certainly speaking their language. Do not fret. Nobody is going to set off a hydrogen bomb over the Pacific. That would be as much suicide as what the NFL is doing. As for the suicidal NFL. They are wallowing in the big bucks. Got to hit them in the wallet. Remember the boycott that was so effective in the 60s. Well, bring in the throwback playbook. When they start losing money, they will start to see the light, just like our Communist friends at ESPN. The NFL is going to need to muster a comeback greater than the one the Patriots put together to stun the Falcons in the last Super Bowl. The Falcons are from Atlanta and Atlanta has had African-American mayors since 1973 or so. Maynard Jackson, Andrew Young, Shirley Franklin, Bill Campbell (felon), and Kasim Reed. They also control the schools and the police department. We won't dwell on the schools. The Police: racist white officers. The APD is hiring all the time 24/7/365 looking for men and women and those other sexes / genders to "Answer The Call." Can't find em. But from the way people talk, Kasim must be going to all the KKK meetings to recruit his white officers. I am sure this is the case. How else could you get all these racist pigs on the payroll? Must be looking for them. Mayors in other cities, Chicago, Cleveland, ad nauseam. The Klan must be doing better than the Southern Poverty lawyers allow. And, I do not lay all of the blame on Mr. Reed. He is a master politician. Got him a new police chief, kilt two birds with one stone by promoting a Lesbian to Police Chief. Ms. Shields is competent and smart, a fine Police Officer, and I am hoping she will do a fine job. But, political, Yes sir ree bob. I posit that if Black America would tighten up on the lawless and make more of an effort to be good citizens, then a lot of this so-called problem would evaporate. But we would have to do this without acting white. Got to be Black. What a paradox. There is a reason that Blacks feel they are profiled. Gee, what could that be? Could there be a reason other that overt racism? Help me here. I just can't figure this one out on my own. Now, of course, in Atlanta, there are places where a white person is seldom seen, in black neighborhoods that are black simply because the residents want no contact with the white man. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with that. Odd that integration was so important, but now segregation is alive and doing well. And it is not white instigated. Freedom of association and all that, but... Our dear friend Professor Gates; what a chump to get arrested for being stupid, and him with a PhD. At this own house. Happens more than you would think, that people go to jail for minor offenses because they acted stupidly. And that other chump, B. Obama; "the police acted stupidly." I remember Barry O. said he was the first post-racial president. My heart leapt for joy and I thought that maybe we were going to be walking down the street arm-in-arm. What a disappointment as Barry just stirred the pot with a big stick and didn't speak softly. And a liar...goodness gracious. Police are police. They most times try to be nice, but don't mess with a rattlesnake. They have enough to put up with without being baited, and they'll take the hook. You may escape a conviction like Prof. Gates, but you still gonna take that ride. If you pull a gun, you gonna get shot. Seems simple enough to me. Seems stupid to me that people, black and white, and any other skin tone don't understand this. Got that offa my chest. That felt good too. When you have a little more time tell us how you really feel.
/sarc ☺ "Trump was wrong to attack the NFL players; it is beneath the dignity of the U.S. presidency to bully individuals or groups."
Yeah right. You want dignity, who was more dignified than "W"? You want a statesman, who more so than McCain "reaching across the aisle, to my friends"? You want gracious, who more than Mitt? Can you think of a more decent person? So, 'Eff "em. So go ahead Donald, grab 'em by their pu55y, whether real or "identified". The 'effing progs need so show some dignity if they want to be shown dignity in return. "..... it is beneath the dignity of the U.S. presidency to bully individuals or groups...." says JFK and WJ Clinton, referring of course, to interns or women in general!
There is no dignity in the office of POTUS. It was killed by FDR and each of his successors. " . . . it is beneath the dignity of the U.S. presidency . . ."
yea, right. THAT ship sailed when Obama gave the middle finger to his political opponent. It's my POV there is no dignity in government at all. There never really has been, that's why the founders sought to limit its impact.
They recognized any use of force on individuals is undignified. But hey, once you have the power, what's the use in having it if you can't bully people? Zach loves being bullied. That's why he's such a troll and such a lover of government. The NFL players are public figures. They made a public statement. Fair game.
These jackasses voluntarily entered the fray.
On the upside for the NFL, the story of the week should have been CTE, but Trump put a stop to that. I'm glad that the President is not saying 'presidential' things. This is why I voted for him.
I can't get over how the whole political-media complex (including entertainment, as in football) has turned into a clown club. Trump sure does have the knack for provoking them and by extension exposing them. Makes me think of Shakespeare's fools or a court room drama where a sharp attorney goads the witness.
As for the NFL flap, it's theater for the chumps. Many issues have become so conflated with "whatever", that the message, even if it was sincere, is lost. As for the free speech angle, they should do it on their own time on their own dime, like the rest of us. Unless, of course, they are speaking for the NFL; since the NFL does seem to be OK with insulting it's customer base. "Trump was wrong to attack the NFL players; it is beneath the dignity of the U.S. presidency to bully individuals or groups."
Yes, and men should always hold doors for ladies, horses need a good brushing when you finish with the phaeton, and never - never! - use pink powder on your wig after Labor Day. It was beneath the dignity of the U.S. presidency for us to have elected a liar and racist such as Obama. It was beneath the dignity of the U.S. presidency for We The People to have allowed GWB to take unadulterated shyte from liberals for so long without bashing heads. The USS Dignity has sailed. Don't mind Trump attacking these guys who are using a national stage to attack the country.
The feral government is entirely dysfunctional. We have one ruling class, rather than two opposing parties. We have "dealz" instead of treaties. We have EOs & bureaucratic rules changes instead of passing actual laws. We have CRs instead of budgets. In the Judiciary, we have lawless judges issuing injunctions against everything they don't like, and the two preposterous SCOTUS decisions on Obamacare. I don't even want to know how those came about, but I suspect it wasn't pretty, or legal. Won't even get into Mueller's extra-legal fishing expedition. Only way to lay the groundwork to start fixing any of this is for normals to take control of a party. Culture war on the most outrageous excesses of the Woke crowd is the easiest way to mobilize normals. I think The News Junkie just pulled a TRUMP on us to learn the sentiments of us normals (We already know where the Zach collective/hive stands!) with respect to "dignity" of the Presidency.
Best response so far is: that as the government is just "force", there can be NO dignity associated with it. True dat! Old Codger: Best response so far is: that as the government is just "force", there can be NO dignity associated with it.
In a modern democratic society, government is representative. In particular, in the U.S. system of government, the president is not just the head of government, but the head of state. Scoff, "... the dignity of the office ...". Government is some guys We the People hire to do some dirty jobs for us. And to do those jobs, We the People grant them the use of our sovereign powers. To be used and not abused. And the President is the chief whip cracker to make sure all the others faithfully perform the duties of their office, and not abuse Our powers. The office has no dignity, other than what the President brings and demands. And the 20/21 cen presidents have been awful short on dignity. We don't care about dignity, it's not a qualification for office. Dignity is a weapon of a political opponent.
They said Grant wasn't dignified. Especially after the dignified and timid McClellan. Lincoln said, "I can't spare him, he fights." Bush the Younger nattered about the dignity of the office. Bush the timid and foolish, flushing our national treasure into the sands of Asia. We the People decided a long time ago that we will have as one of our enduring cultural behaviors that bind us together as one nation, one people, will be to always sing the Star-Spangled Banner at sporting events. (Us fractious colonials tweaking the noses of the British Crown's Army officers with their own drinking song since 1814.) Government didn't decide that, We did. Now a handful of America-hating culture warriors are attempting to break our spirit, and break our American culture. And our undignified dirty jobs executive, come up from the ruthless New York real estate business, with a flair for using the bully pulpit, has called them out. It's 200 or 2000 or 20,000 against 63 million, and the 63 million can't spare him, he fights. Jackie Robinson, I Never Had It Made, 1972: "As I write this twenty years later, I cannot stand and sing the anthem. I cannot salute the flag; I know that I am a black man in a white world."
It seems like centuries since Jackie. We've come a long way, baby. That world doesn't even exist anymore.
Jack Walter: That world doesn't even exist anymore.
Jackie Robinson, segregation, and the Civil Rights Movements are all in living memory. In any case, protest has always been part of the American experience. BLM is a racist organization that advocates violence and murder of whites/cops/Americans. They are funded by communists groups and are anti-American. Those who either out of stupidity or hate support the BLM are racists. Kappernick is not protesting mistreatment of blacks by police he is expressing his racism.
Hint: If you don't want the police to be angry at you and in fear of their life maybe even shoot you then when they try to stop you in your car pull over, shut of the engine and keep your hands on the steering wheel. |
