We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The GOPe still don't get that the base has rejected them. They only matter to the extent that they whole-heartedly support Trump. It's Trump's party now. An alliance between Trump Republicans and moderate Dems is a possibility, and it would make the GOPe disposable.
Absolutely agree. The press and media are so used to Presidents that just bow to them and take it. Trump is a different kind of President and they don't like it. He is the Rodney Dangerfield in a Caddie Shack nation and his followers love it.
I don't give a rats ass what Trump tweets! I sure don't remember any of these shmucks getting on thier high horse when any number of democrats said mean things, not to mention outright lies from the Senate floor, about any number of republicans. Keep eggging them on Trump! It's about time someone did. The dignity of the office, was trashed long before any of us were born.
Dignity of the office?!?! I can't hear you over the cop-killing rappers in the Obama Whitehouse, or the saxophone Bill Clinton is playing on Arseno Hall's show.
I agree that Trump comes off as a jerk with his tweets. But we can't pick and choose which parts of him he will keep. He won on his own terms without listening to anyone inside the beltway and isn't going to change now.
I do hope, though, that a new party emerges from this. Whether it is totally new or a realigned Republican party, I want a party that isn't business as usual. Give me a party that puts America's interests first in foreign and domestic policy. Give me a party that gets rid of tons of administrative bloat. Give me a party that cuts all funding and support to domestic terrorist groups like Planned Parenthood and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
I genuinely like that Trump causes the left to shout "Hitler". Never mind that he is NOT Hitler. Just realize that even if Mitt Romney had won the presidency, as squishy a RHINO as he is, the same Kathy Griffin types would have been screaming about Romney wearing jackboots. They hate what we stand for, and it is hilarious to me that I hear so many people saying that Trump is going to roll back lesbian and gay rights. Nevermind that Trump has been open about his sympathies when Hillary and Obama were in the closet (and I am not trying to advocate for LBGTwhatever issues here. It is just funny to me how ill-informed the rent-a-mob-protesters on the left are when criticizing the president).
Trump is by no means perfect. But he is the only horse we have in this race right now. Let's support him and hope he can win this race for the sake of the whole country.
"Doesn't know the difference between Medicaid and Medicare"
More of the never Trumpism or Trump derangement syndrome from some un-named GOP. This will go on forever. If you put any store in what the never Trumpers say it is probable taht you too are a never Trumper. Don't misunderstand, being a never Trumper is fine unless you at the same time try to convince me that you are a conservative and Republican. Just maybe you are a Rino and wish one of the Rino Republicans had won. And in your dismay at losing you feel compelled to throw all the conservatives and Republicans under the bus. You are part of the problem, part of the swamp.
I don't care if Trump slips up and calls Medicare Medicaid or vice versa. In his first 160 days or so he has done more for conservatives than the last two Republican presidents and more than all the Rinos in congress.
After reading Sasse"s tweet followed by Linsey G"s I said to my husband, We need a new party without fainting couches. He replied - We have a party, its the Never Trumpers that need a new one.
Dignity of the office indeed - does anybody remember what Bill Clinton did there?
