We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
A lot simpler, Frank. In '59 we only had three kids, half as many as we ended up with. We didn't have any surplus cash or investments to worry about depreciating in value. None of our family was on any prescription meds. Such things as global warming, ozone holes, CO² pollution, student loans, PTSD and ADD hadn't been invented yet. I was a co-pilot, and all I had to know was Yes Captain and No Captain. A helluva lot simpler.
Re: Fyre Festival founder arrested, charged with wire fraud
For all the terrible things this guy's alleged to have done, there's one single count of wire fraud. This sort of stuff, it seems to me, would normally be handled as a civil suit. But I'm sure JOON KIM, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, has a sad that you didn't mention JOON KIM's name in this item, because what's the point of pursuing high-profile cases against famous people right there within close proximity to all the network news headquarters if not to make sure that JOON KIM gets some face time on the TV so that everybody knows who JOON KIM is? Of course, JOON KIM better watch out for New York's AG Eric Schneiderman, if there's TV cameras and famous names involved he'll be elbowing his way into the case to make sure he gets his fair share of the press coverage, too.
