Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Russian ambassador told Moscow that Kushner wanted secret communications channel with Kremlin
Why?" Because the regular channels of communications were hacked by Obama . Are these the same Russians that the Dems are all worked up about because Trump shared intel with them and THEY ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY?
But if they claim to have dirt on Trump admin, they suddenly become our honest, trustworthy allies... if the Russians wanted to cause infinite chaos and endless grief for the Trump administration, what better way to do it than to plant a fake rumor over communications lines known (or at least highly suspected) to be surveilled by US intel services that the Trump administration had proposed a back-channel link for future discussions? Geez, isn't this Spy 101? Are Comey & Co. really that stupid? The Russians know the US intel guys are not going to reveal, even to the President, the specific details of how they swooped up that bit of information. The Russians---with complete deniability---do a little head fake and that sets the anti-Trumpers, led by the Obama Mafia, off and running with all sorts of fake espionage plots.
Here's my question. If you wanted to get rid of a law, couldn't you just bring it up for a vote again? The ACA would be a prime example. With a new majority, it ought to be voted down handily.
Along the same lines of "If you want to make a new law, you should get rid of 2 old laws." Clean up the books. Make it simpler. The Left ignores Lefist violence because they are Leftists. And it's OK when THEY do it.
Post election, pre-inauguration communication between transition staff and Russian representatives is not illegal. What's the problem? I imagine Trump didn't want to be spied on.
Re: Evergreen State
Lest we forget another event My DH and I once attended a reception in a private home for one of the founders of Evergreen. He was African/American his wife was white. I had met him the year before at another reception. Went up to him and put out my hand to greet him. He grabbed me bent me over backwards and stuck his tongue down my throat. When he let go I was stunned and he said, "you don't even know what's been done to you do you?" and laughed and walked over to another group. Nice guy eh. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I had a friend in law school who used his student loans to play the markets. He made so much money he dropped out of law school his third year because he didn't have to worry about working any more. At that point, I would have at least stayed to get the diploma, especially since it was a fairly prestigious school and we had already survived the torture them to death and work them to death first and second years. "The more matters we push down to the state level, the less Red America and Blue America will have to quarrel about. And given how nasty our quarrels currently are, this seems like it would come as a welcome relief for almost everyone."
The Democrats I know have been working hard against Federalism for many years. Returning rightful powers to the state would most certainly NOT be a relief to them. Centralized power is the end game of the Left. Re: "Russian ambassador told Moscow that Kushner wanted secret communications channel with Kremlin"
From Voice of America today: "Asked about reports that U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law had tried to set up a clandestine communication channel with Russia before the president took office, U.S. National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster said Saturday that so-called 'back-channeling' was normal." Link: http://www.voanews.com/a/national-security-adviser-not-concerened-about-kushner-back-channel-reports/3873780.html Was wondering the same thing. Several years ago I read an article in the Economist about the US and China's relationship regarding Taiwan, and much of it was about back-channel communications between the two countries on that topic.
I'm not a diplomat so I don't know how often these back channels get used, but judging from the tone of the article it seems to be a part of the standard diplomatic toolkit. |
