Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

You can take the ho' outta the 'hood...... but you can't take the 'hood outta the 'ho! Of course the past is not dead. The Democratic party sadly still exists and has supporters.

Snort... Harsh to say but...Michelle Obama always moves like she is pulling logs up a hill.
JM01: Michelle Obama always moves like she is pulling logs up a hill.
How's your mom at log pulling? QUOTE: Non-Western Immigrants Consume 59% Of Denmark’s Tax Revenue False. According to the very misleading article, the cost of 39 billion DKK is "59% of the tax surplus collected from native Danes". The overall budget is about 1 trillion DKK, so 0.039 trillion DKK is a small proportion of the overall budget, and the quoted percentage is essentially a function of the balance of the budget: The closer the balance, the larger the percentage they could quote. They cherry-picked a small denominator to make the percentage appear large. QUOTE: This would be roughly equivalent to America’s federal government spending $2.1 trillion per year on immigrants—a number so large it defies all logic and reason. This is false because they conflate the budget surplus with the overall budget. QUOTE: The report shows conclusively that immigration has been an economic disaster for Denmark. Deny that, you Islamic boot-lick. The article falsely claims "Non-Western Immigrants Consume 59% Of Denmark’s Tax Revenue". Anything else?
Typical deceptive argument on your part, which ignores the point of the article:
QUOTE: The report shows conclusively that immigration has been an economic disaster for Denmark. Deny the substance of that, you Islamic stooge. Fetterman: Deny the substance of that
We showed that the basis of the argument is fallacious.

Since Trump did no damage at all, it is entirely on the press and the leaker that sourcing and intel was released to the world. Trump said NOTHING about source. It was confirmed by those in the room.
I'm still pretty irritated that nobody seems to be able to figure out who is leaking this stuff. If it were me in charge, I would follow the trail and fire every single person in that trail. Not worth it to spend the time to suss it out. If you did that ONCE, just ONCE. I think it would end a lot of this stuff. Either others in the intel community would be reporting who they think the leaker is, or the leaking would stop altogether. Back in the day, LBJ used to routinely fire anyone on his staff who was described in the newspapers as hardworking or well-liked.
He called it "plugging the leaks". School disciplinary incident ends with a Naperville teen's suicide: 'They scared him to death'
QUOTE: With his future before him and a high school hockey tournament that weekend, Corey went to bed that night as he had for much of his life: Happy. Healthy. Home. "There was no concern for anything," Maureen Walgren said. "Everything was fine. Everything was normal." Life for the Walgren family would never be normal again, at least as they knew it on that January evening. The following day, Naperville police suspected that Corey — who had no criminal history and had never been in serious trouble at school — had video on his phone of a consensual sexual encounter with a 16-year-old classmate and possibly played it for friends. At lunchtime, he was called into the dean's office. There, with a police officer and campus dean, Corey was questioned about possessing and possibly sharing "child pornography," allegedly threatened that he'd be put on the state's sex offender registry, then was left alone to wait for his mother. It does not appear any pornographic images were found on the teen's phone, but it did contain a file with audio of the sexual encounter. Police did not intend to pursue charges, records show, and they indicated they wanted to handle the matter in a way that ensured Corey understood the seriousness of his actions and how it affected his classmate. Yet Corey left school after the confrontation, walked nearly a mile to downtown Naperville and committed suicide by falling from the top of a parking deck. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-naperville-north-suicide-20170522-story.html This outrage has me climbing on my soapbox. 1) Why were the police involved? 2) Why was the school involved? 3) Why does Government have to have its nose in everyone's bedroom? Once upon a time this would have been a matter for the individuals involved and their parents. Now we criminalize it. Look what happens when our overlords step in, 'to help'. Perhaps we should roll back these intrusive laws and policies 'for the children'? After all, if it saved just one kid's life . . . Oh wait. Someone might lose their place at the money trough. Stupid basturds . . . Would they have done anything if it had been the girl with the audio/video and she was showing it to her friends? Or would that be viewed as "s**t-shaming" and therefore be politically incorrect, rather than it being a felony crime when done by the boy?
"healthcare as a right" means that one group of people has a just claim on the labor of another group of people. It fails the "Desert Island Test". If you were alone on a desert island, would you be able to justly claim the right under discussion from that other person. You can make the claim that you be allowed to speak your mind, be allowed to worship (or not) your God as you see fit, be allowed to maintain first fruits on your labor. You would not have the right to require they provide you with heart surgery, for example, particularly if they don't have the requisite skill.

Moochie belongs here: http://www.peopleofwalmart.com The Atlantic article on Marvel comics is just carrying the water for the diversity movement. However, someone let some actual numbers into the article and it blew the entire narrative.
The utter failure of the Ms. Marvel title is clear evidence that diversity doesn't sell. The replacement of Parker by Morales in Ultimate Spiderman led to a 50% reduction in sales. The excuses made by the article, that direct sales hurts the introduction of new characters, is a flawed one. A publishing company introduces a new character in conjunction with a popular existing title. Marvel has done this repeatedly, sometimes it sticks (Wolverine via Hulk) sometimes it doesn't. Diverse characters never do. There's a reason for that. The reason is that when diversity is the impetus for a character, the dialogue turns into a sermon, the plot is a series of repeated morality plays. They're horribly written, and painful to read. Comics readers don't despise diversity in principle (DC's Cyborg is evidence of that) but the character has to make sense, and the titles well written. Marvel's other practices as described by the article are worth mentioning too. Marvel has done much to ruin the industry, and this is nothing new. So glad this was pointed out. But in the end, it's their efforts for diversity which are the true killer. And Kudos to Jon Del Arroz for putting those facts out there. I knew singlepayer healthcare to be a disaster. It is refreshing, though, to see the Sacramento Bee report that SPH in California would cost about twice more ($400 billion) than the state gets in taxes in a given year ($200 billion).
