Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

WaPo put out a hit piece on Robert E Lee last week. The history rewrite says he was a bumbling loser and the South would have been better off without him.
My guess is this opinion piece was published to lend support to the removal of Lee statues everywhere. Some excerpts: QUOTE: But history is not set in bronze. It evolves. And though Lee remains an important, powerful symbol in the South, his reputation among scholars has evolved to the point that many either question or outright ridicule his stature as a battlefield savant. Lee is not the humble, proud battlefield loser presented by documentarian Ken Burns and other popular works of history, but a bumbling strategist and the central character in “the most successful propaganda campaign in American history.” Monuments fall. So do their legends. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/retropolis/wp/2017/05/19/the-truth-about-confederate-gen-robert-e-lee-he-wasnt-very-good-at-his-job/?utm_term=.32c8076eefec Regardless of his performance as a general for the Confederacy, I don't think it's a coincidence that the man who is probably the finest example of honorable behavior after suffering devastating defeat is being trashed-talked at this point in time.
Lee was a very talented officer, which is why he was offered command of the federal armies just before the Civil War started. He should have been detained for the duration when he declined the offer and never been pardoned or given amnesty afterwards.
Lee's great errors were made on the tactical offensive, such as Gettysburg, but he was hardly alone in that flaw, defense would remain ascendent through WW1. Federal leaders like Grant knew this but could pay the price the Lee could not afford. "All together now". Well bless their little hearts. I wonder if these yokels have enough self awareness to know how their tired, over used clichés are perceived, and to think they mock flyover country. Why are they not embarrassed that they can't come up with new fresh ideas?
The "F*ck Donald Trump" chant is simply the employment of the "Two minute hate" written about by George Orwell.
The Repubs use the tactic as well. Recall, "Lock her up! Lock her up!" ?? Whether or not energizing the base by stoking the fires of hate is a good idea is open for debate. For Hillary, that was an accurate chant. Her fast and loose handling of classified material should have gotten her a one-way ride to Leavenworth... but I guess Orwell's right.
Some animals ARE more equal than others - and don't you peons dare forget that your betters aren't subject to the same rules and restrictions you are! Lunacy on Campus: They're giving B.S.s in Lunacy these days.
WaPo: Across America, whites are biased and they don’t even know it HAH! They keep telling us we are, and ignoring themselves. Dems are replaying the same 'fake news.' The idea that Trump aides staged an 'intervention' to get Trump to stop tweeting? Was already an attempted news story during the election. Don't fall for this junk.
Trump's voters LOVE the tweeting. When I hear pundits on the news and people on the left try to squelch the tweeting, I know it is working. Would we even be talking about Obama and the unmasking story w/o Trump's tweets? I think not. So many other things he's brought up that cut through the media...who HATE him and lie about him on a daily basis. I'll take a Trump tweet over another fake news story with 'anonymous sources' any day. Interracial marriages. The negro is disappearing as they are being bred out. The race problem is solving itself
As a non-reader of WaPo, I'm glad you posted their screed on the White Man's unknowing bias. Now that I am awake to my bias, I will embrace it.
I'm saddened by the lost years of unknowing bias but I hope to bias with vigor in the future, and regain some of that which was so cruelly kept from me. This: 'list their preferred gender pronouns (such as “zi” and “hir”)'
Are the classic pronouns, e.g.; him and her, banned? Asking for a friend. WaPo: Across America, whites are biased and they don’t even know it
Zero comments. Comments are closed. Sounds as if the WaPo didn't want any dissenting opinions. Surprise, surprise. From my childhood experience, I concluded that we all have our biases, our prejudices, a.k.a. our in-groups versus out-groups. So, I basically agree with the conclusions of the article. Where I may disagree with the article is that I am of the opinion that ALL groups have such tendencies, not just whites. Where I differ from "progressives" is many "progressives" claim that "YOU are prejudiced and I am not," in an attempt to shame their political opponents. Many "progressives" believe that their excrement doesn't stink. Progressives also run the cities where blacks are in ghettos and kill a lot of themselves. And have Planned Parenthood abortionists there too. Why do they hate the blacks so much?
"Unemployment Claims At Lowest Level In 28 Years"
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Interesting statement when you now have hundreds of thousands of people now living homeless on the streets of America. I would suspect it rivals anything from the depths of the Great Depression. |
