We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
That is exactly what the press has become. Interesting that between Hillary's many crimes and Obama's likely crimes that there is zero interest in exposing them. If anyone still has any doubt about the bias of the press this should help them understand who the press really is today.
The Venezuela thesis is interesting, but I assume the average IQ hasn't changed over the last 20 years, whereas the political and economic systems certainly have.
I usually have to put up with the pBS News on Friday night. In particular the segment with Mark Shields and David Brooks. DH likes David Brooks and I won't tell him what the problem is on that choice because DB is the first Republican DH will acknowledge. However, last night he was not there and the stand in was some very mild mannered and polite guy from India. Judy Woodruff let Mark Shields rant and rave and rant and rave and rant and rave for minute after minute after minute. The India guy only got to make one or two two sentence comments. My tax dollars were spent by PBS to let Mark Shields go on for about 10 minutes--how much did that cost? The other segment last night was Judy "interviewing" Condi Rice--no contest--you could see Judy seething with un correct journalistic attitude--but Condi kept her poise, her articulation and had the most direct and informative answers! Judy just raged internally--but, you could see her rage on her face. How much did that cost? If Congress defunded the news segment of PBS only that would be a huge improvement!
Not in the deep south. Nowadays' down here, the ultra-minority dems hail from the vibrant sector of our culture, with a few trial lawyers thrown in for diversity. They spend very little time on republicans. They harp mostly about medicaid, single mother stuff, and redistricting, constantly fussing about legislative districts. As soon as a redistricting plan is adopted they head to court to try to get it overthrown, even though they don't have a seat at the table for what would replace it. Entertaining, but something of a nuisance.
PBS has become exactly what you would expect from a government funded television/radio/news/commentary. It has become the propaganda arm of that part of the government that wants to fund it dedicated to eliminating that part of the government that wants to defund it. I for one am shocked; shocked, I tell you.
There is a good news part of the story though. If you want to know what the latest lies/spin/anti-American propaganda is then watch PBS. They are at the cutting edge of the propaganda wave and have their ear pressed to the lips of the various communist/socialist organizations dedicated to throwing out our constitution.
