Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Leonardo and Michelangelo as engineers


Leonardo da Vinci applies for a job


 Michelangelo's projects for the fortification of Florence


If you take a nice hike from the center of Florence across the Arno and up the hill to San Miniato (an active abbey), you will walk past and even clamber over some of the defensive walls designed by Michelangelo. The monks at San Miniato are friendly fellows, and they can sure chant the vespers.

Well, I guess, if you're Leonardo da Vinci, that's about as much humility as is possible, alright.

My wife and I went to the Abbey of San Miniato in May of this year. We had heard the monks were good and were looking forward to hearing them. We attended a mass there and heard the chant. The monks may be friendly but they can't sing.

No AutoCAD or Solidworx. Never heard of Lean or Six Sigma. What kind of crap is HR sending up here?
