We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Heard a version of this talk a couple of weeks back at Trinity's Laurie Auditorium in San Antonio, with 10 times the audience and 100% less fuss. I suspect opening the talk to the entire community, rather than just hothouse undergrads, made a big difference.
Dinesh came to my college not long after 9-11 and spoke to about 300 of us about what to expect from the Islamic parts of the world. He was intelligent, rational and a superb speaker. Afterward, he was very gracious and humble in speaking to everyone who wanted to ask anything. I am glad I got a chance to talk to him.
I have read most of his work. This was one of his best: https://www.amazon.com/Godforsaken-Things-Happen-there-proof/dp/1414324855
