We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Much of this right now is about perception. If the perception is that the U.S. is going to crack down on illegals, then a lot fewer will attempt to get here and many will self-deport.
I am also curious to see what affect our enforcement and wall building has on Mexico's policies to allow immigrants from Central America to pass through their country relatively undisturbed, knowing that their ultimate destination was the U.S. Mexico is already concerned about this, as they have a LOT of illegals from Haiti and other areas of the world hanging out in Mexico.
It will make Mexico deal with their own problems allowing these immigrants 'safe' passage through their country.
So happy to see our government for the first time in my adult life actually FOLLOW THE LAW.
