Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I didn't see this coming until last February; I'd given up. I have no idea who said it but it's the old " Revolutions happen when the alienated come to the realize that they are not alone".
And, to repeat myself for the umpteenth time the "elites would sell their own mothers, and especially the Bill of Rights down the river to feather their own nests and for their own self aggrandizement", while simultaneously scolding and demeaning the rest of us. It should be noted that much of globalization is inevitable, due to mass communication, mass media, cheap air travel, and interwoven economies. There are millions of Americans who live, travel, and study abroad; multinationals are engaged in cross cultural transactions 24/7, mass media and entertainment reaches into most corners of the world. Half of my coworkers are from southeast Asia; they are in daily and weekly contact with their families and benefit from cheap international air travel. Compare that to past generations who were cut off from routine contact with their families and homeland when they immigrated. I don't think that most of us have a problem with this, until it comes to the special interests and the identity groups always being placed ahead of regular working Americans, and the demand that they accommodate all comers at whatever the cost.
I forget who said that you can tell who a society values most by who is forbidden to make fun of. For a long time, I have seen that the only people in America you can joke about are white Christians, and the best targets are white Christian males. Yet it is just that demographic...my demographic...that are working hardest to make sure that the country doesn't come completely off the rails.
A good third of the country is so lost as to be written off. Another third is working toward cleaning this mess up. It is the third in the middle that is starting to ask itself which side it wants to be on. For that reason, I am SO glad that cultural sewer holes like Lena Dunham are spewing louder than ever before. It makes the differences between us more stark. And that is good. Two significant posts today.
One is Richard Fernandez who sees a dark future. https://pjmedia.com/richardfernandez/2017/02/15/the-fight-for-washington/ The other is Andrew Klavan who has decided he has to join our side. https://pjmedia.com/andrewklavan/2017/02/19/choosing-sides/ They belong to another tribe. They belong to the Western European-Anglospheric liberal tribe. They are quite loyal and patriotic to that transnational tribe. But that only overlaps partly with the American tribe, and in a pinch, they fly the UN flag.
Irony: they sneer at all those Dakotans who don't have passports, unlike themselves, who spent Junior Year Abroad drinking beer in Exeter or Frankfort. But it is the family of Deplorables who have been exposed to cultures that are actually different, serving in the military, growing up as MK's or going on short-term missions, or doing business in third-world countries. Working in Latin America turned me from a lefty progressive into a deplorable. The progressive catechism on Latin America did a very poor job of explaining the facts on the ground in Latin America. In addition, the US of A looked a lot better upon comparison with Latin America, when you consider factors as honesty and competence in business or government. When you have to deal with incompetent government bureaucrats and corrupt cops, you draw conclusions. Ditto with our business "partners." I got a perspective not obtainable from a tour of Western Europe. But that doesn't mean I had no exposure in Latin America to Europeans. Brits: reserved. French:insufferable. Germans: good linguists and coming to terms with their past. My favorite Euros, at least in Latin America. Swedes: excellent linguists. Amazing article. Thank you for posting it. My heart aches when I read this stuff. I keep reading about the "Robber Barons" and the Gilded Age .. Ford,Rockefeller , Vanderbilt.....At least these folks were patriotic. They loved their country . Not so with these autistic, sociopathic tech spergs....
Not to mention, they actually produced something tangible.
And that is why they must be destroyed. There is a strange conspiracy of diverse people against what we now call the deplorables; mostly white, mostly religious and mostly middle class. Most involved in that conspiracy are not "anti-American as much as they are pro-free stuff and simply see this as an opportunity to grow the welfare state. Watch as the left politically assassinates as many of Trumps cabinet and supporters as they can. We have already seen over the last 50 years that our education system and our media have politically assassinated our founders, past leaders, past businessmen and anyone in our history that doesn't fit their new agenda for America. This is why the media is 24/7 opposing and fighting Trump. This is war, you may not believe it and you may not see it but it is war just the same and the other side intends to win.
As Mel Brooks once opined: "You said it! They stink on ice!"
