We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Looking back on my twenty years of Federal service, I find it statistically amazing that in over three dozen interviews NOT ONCE did our fearless reporter find a civil servant who said "I can't wait for some of these self-righteous preening assholes to get the Heave-Ho they so richly deserve." S-o-o-o, I call BULLSHIT.
"Many federal employees recoiled at reports that the president was about to issue an executive order rolling back certain rights for lesbians, gays and transgender people."
Where do these people get these ideas, and why does the NYT encourage the belief therein of such nonsense?
Wait until they find out that the President is going to require them to arrive on time, take only two fifteen minute breaks a day, and have a set lunch period. That, and leave at quitting time, not fifteen or thirty minutes early. Plus, they'll have to have ten Federal holidays a year. But at least they'll still have overtime, Sunday premium pay, and night differential.
I hope that many of these nervous nellies will, indeed, quit their jobs, but I know that the won't since a federal Civil Service job is one of the best, cushiest deals going.
My favorite is all the federal government employees who are on a permanent 4/5 schedule where during every two-week pay period they only work nine days.
If you can do your job with a full day off every two weeks, are you really working a full-time job?? And yet that is the situation for tens of thousands of federal government FTEs (full-time equivalents).
This is an article of contradictions. The reporter and the gov workers want the reader to believe they government workers are dedicated to the public.
"...and resistance among many of the two million nonpolitical civil servants who say they work for the public, not a particular president."
HOGWASH! Serving the public means serving the duly elected president.
Of course they are: "Federal workers are more likely to be Democrats..."
President Trump can start with firings at the National Park Service, the Alt-NPS is becoming a real problem in my FB feed.
