We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I do not like Sessions as he loves Loves LOVES asset forfeiture.
Sessions has been a staunch supporter of civil asset forfeiture, which allows police to seize property suspected of being connected to drug and other crimes, without convicting or sometimes even charging the property owner. Civil liberties groups say civil asset forfeiture lacks due process protections for property owners—who may have their cash, cars, and even houses seized—and creates perverse profit incentives for police.
At a 2015 Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing, Sessions said 95 percent of asset forfeiture cases involve people "who have done nothing in their lives but sell dope." In addition to being unhinged from reality,
I'm against asset forfeiture too so I may temper my support for Sessions (though I'm not sure that will be an issue that comes before him as USAG). The bigger issue is that because we don't have Sessions, we have Obama appointees as acting AG. You're going to have a hard time convincing me that Sessions is worse than anybody Obama appoints to a legal position. Trump just fired Acting AG Yates and Obama appointee, Dana Boente, has been named to replace her. Boente may be an outlier for Obama appointees and actually be reasonable but in the absence of any other information, I prefer Sessions by a large margin.
I see the left reviving their terrorism tactics of the late 60's and early 70's. The many radical movements with one goal to expel the duly elected leaders of our government and replace them with far left Democrats. SDS, Weatherman, and other far left radical groups will come back, same agenda; new names. The BLM is an example of this. Expect more blocking of highways and organized riots in airports, colleges and any public places. Expect weaponized fighting and arson at these Marxist/Leninist "love" fests. It will be worse in liberal cities where the police are emasculated or ACLU'ed to death.
Great summary of the 60's and 70's terrorism at Status 451: https://status451.com/2017/01/20/days-of-rage/. I suspect a revival of leftist political violence might play out differently now that many solid citizens are routinely packing heat. I'd rather not find out.
