Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I find one of the most effective, calming tonics for all this race nonsense is to sit down and quietly reread the Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Jr's 1963 I Have a Dream speech.
you'd get a better idea of who MLK was and what he stood for by reading Letter from Birmingham Jail.
Rev. King would be speechless if he knew about what would pass as "microaggressions", when ... QUOTE: ... when you take a cross-country drive and find it necessary to sleep night after night in the uncomfortable corners of your automobile because no motel will accept you; when you are humiliated day in and day out by nagging signs reading "white" and "colored"; when your first name becomes "nigger," your middle name becomes "boy" (however old you are) and your last name becomes "John," and your wife and mother are never given the respected title "Mrs."; when you are harried by day and haunted by night by the fact that you are a Negro,... this letter (which thunders like a speech) is a call for nonviolent, direct action, and is one of the finest orations (for that is what it is), in America. Calming?
"The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges." These are exciting times, we will soon have the first pro-America president in nearly, but some might argue in more than, a decade.
"These are exciting times, we will soon have the first pro-America president in nearly, but some might argue in more than, a decade."
Aw. JK, you must be a young whippersnapper. One wishes it were ONLY a decade. Try adding an "s". Actually, a century might work as a substitute. QUOTE: Clinton Inc exposed for what it was ... This comes amid reports that donations dried up after Hillary Clinton lost the election November 8. Actually, donations to the Clinton Foundation started dropping off when Clinton began her campaign. Of course donations to the Clinton Global Initiative virtually stopped after it was announced that it would be shutting down. Just a few days ago you had to admit that the Foundation was losing donors because of the numerous conflicts of interest and pay to play shakedowns coming to light.
Did you forget or get a new set of spin instructions? Art Blakey's Paradiddle: Just a few days ago you had to admit that the Foundation was losing donors because of the numerous conflicts of interest and pay to play shakedowns coming to light.
We did? You may want to provide a link. Or I may not want to. Go find someone who gives a shit about what you want and protest.
Art Blakey's Paradiddle: Or I may not want to.
That's fine. We'll just ignore your claim then.

QUOTE: Of course donations to the Clinton Global Initiative virtually stopped after it was announced that it would be shutting down ... because Clinton et al. decided that they no longer needed to pretend to give a shit about malaria, AIDS, the poor, etc. FIFY. Yep. And because in a post-Clinton world their brand is has lost its allure.
Why give money to someone who can do nothing for you? It's Over: And because in a post-Clinton world their brand is has lost its allure.
If that were so, then donations would have increased as Clinton moved closer to power, not decreased. Bill Carson: ... because Clinton et al. decided that they no longer needed to pretend to give a shit about malaria, AIDS, the poor, etc.
The Clinton Health Access Initiative is still in operation and helps provide life-saving drugs to millions of people. And KFC is still in operation despite the fact that the Colonel no longer walks the earth. So what?
Hillary is falling all over herself pushing forward the Clinton Health Access Initiative, isn't she? It's almost as if she forgot she lost the election, she's so preoccupied with fighting malaria! She thought she was going to be Prez and thus folded up the tent (i.e., collected all the bribes, to be repaid by future Executive Branch actions). Sad! Just because you don't look doesn't mean it isn't there. One of the problems of providing drugs to poor countries is that pharmaceutical manufacturers don't want to revisit the process they use to make drugs because it requires new drug approval. However, there are often new processes that can lower the cost of production. The Clinton Health Access Initiative has teamed up with the Gates Foundation to fund research into alternative manufacturing processes.
Of course, this isn't as much fun as making up stuff about politicians you don't like, but it does help save lives, so there is that.

FIFY.

We provided specifics. The Clinton Health Access Initiative, in partnership with the Gates Foundation, helps provide life-saving drugs for millions of people. They have driven down the costs of many of these drugs. One way they have done this is by funding research into alternative lower-cost manufacturing processes. This accomplishment doesn't go away because you wave your hands.

More specifically, the funding for the research proposal occurred since the election, meeting your concern that perhaps Clinton "forgot she lost the election, she's so preoccupied with fighting malaria!"

Just like you didn't provide specifics regarding the details of the Saudi contributions to the Clinton Foundation, just hand waving and appealing to some report that didn't offer any specifics either.

From the link above: "A professor at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Engineering in Richmond has partnered with the Gates Foundation and Clinton Health Access Initiative in research that is drastically lowering the cost of HIV drugs... At a cheaper price the Clinton Health Access Initiative can afford to buy more of the drugs, meaning greater access for developing countries."

So Hillary took an active part in securing the funding for that research proposal?!? Let's see some specifics!

Now you're arguing that Clinton has had nothing to do with the Clinton Health Access Initiative?!

RE University Hosts MLK Day Teach-In on 'Oppressive Fashion Trends'
I openly ridicule anyone wearing a pre-tied bowtie. If you cannot tie a bowtie, you cannot untie one and wear it like James Bond, after a game of baccarat. pass the shoe. I've been ignoring pundits like Brooks my entire life.
Guess I'm a trendsetter B-| Re gun violence.
Do these people know gun is a noun, not an adjective? Besides we have the statistics from the late great USSR where guns were banned. As Stalin said, we don't let them have their own ideas, why should we let them have their own guns? No guns for you comrade. The USSR had a murder rate twice the US rate. Murder rate has little to do with the availability of guns. I thought ALL snowflakes were created, or at least guaranteed to be equal?
