Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Good mix today, Bird Dog. But, despite spellcheck standing up for him, I think Sen. Blumenthal is simply a moron (no matter what his color.)
I think Blumenthal is pure scum. Booker, after being a relatively pragmatic and effective local politician, is transforming himself into the kind of scumbag who could win a DNC Presidential nomination.
The best defense is a good offense: Blumenthal is on the attack in an attempt to hide his lies about having served in Vietnam.
"Anarchists Are Hoping To Turn Donald Trump’s Inauguration On January 20th Into One Of The Biggest Riots In U.S. History
" We wanted to go to DC for Trump's inauguration but figured it would be too dangerous for two old folks. The left has been pretty obvious about their violent nature for a good while. Wonder what would happen if those of us on the other side acted like the Dems/left. Can you imagine? the biggest "riot" in US history was the Civil War, and that didn't turn out well for the rioters.
here's to a few demoncrap heads being broken. What is Trumpism? My own take is that it's Munchausenism - he just says whatever fantastic stuff pops into his head and none of it necessarily has any relationship to reality. Nothing he says necessarily means anything so there's no use trying to glean any meaning or significance out of it. Anybody that claims they know what Trump thinks or what he's gonna do based on what he's said is either a liar or a fool. He's a troll, an inveterate liar and a braggart and a blowhard, a fabulist, a teller of tall tales, an exaggerator, a born salesman blowing smoke up your nether regions - however you want to define it, you can't take anything he says as the literal truth.
Number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9
Number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9 Number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9 You talking' 'bout Obama sounds like; you are also: repetitious, repetitive and redundant. Not sayin' you ain't right but we has rolled the bones and the die is cast. We are going' on with the crossing of the Potomac. See you at the barricades. Today's number is 9 Jerry, I think you're saying those are features, not bugs. For what Trump's set out to do, nothing less that pure outrageousness has any chance of bringing down those filthy walls of power. And, even pure outrageousness might not work.
Here is a good article by Jordan B. Peterson. It is an in depth look at the role of society and the individual. This week he will be debating Sam Harris. Thought people may be interested. http://jordanbpeterson.com/2016/12/new-years-letter/
"Silicon Valley CEO: Middle America a “Sh*thole” Full of “Stupid People”
This is the classic case of a probably smart person who lives in an echo chamber simply not knowing what she does not know. I have lived in every section of this country and for all it's faults the Midwest was one of the best. Good honest hard working people. Not what you see on COPS or the Maury show. I think far too many people judge the Midwest by what they have seen on TV and heard from comments and opinions of others. But it really is mostly good god fearing honest hard working middle class America. I don't know what is in Ms Byerley's heart and mind. She may not be a bad person intent on disparaging 100 million or so Americans. I suspect she is merely doing what she has always done and echoing what she has always heard and virtue signaling to her friends and fellow travelers. It is sad to see someone who should know better beclown themselves in front of the entire nation. This is the classic case of a probably smart person who lives in an echo chamber simply not knowing what she does not know. I have lived in every section of this country and for all it's faults the Midwest was one of the best.
Melinda Byerley got her Bachelor's degree at Illonois Wesleyan, so she does know the Midwest. She is one of the crowd who, having left flyover country, sneers at those fools who stayed behind. Think David Letterman. Think Garrison Keillor. Think David Carr. QUOTE: New York Times columnist David Carr responds to Bill Maher implying Alabama and Kansas are not the "smart states." If you go to David Carr's Wikipedia entry, you find out that he is from Minneapolis, but you do not find any mention of his "low-sloping foreheads" crack. What a surprise.David Carr: "If it's Kansas, Missouri, no big deal. You know, that's the dance of the low-sloping foreheads. The middle places, right? [pause] Did I just say that aloud?" One irony about Melinda Byerley's crack about "terrible school system" is that California is ranked about 40th in the nation. San Francisco-dwelling Melinda leaves out that fact in her rant. Don't set up operations in flyover country which has a "terrible school system," but stay in California. Yeah, right. I have also lived in many parts of the U.S. My favorite was the south. So friendly. People are willing to pick up a conversation with you wherever...in line at the pharmacy, while pumping gas, etc. I loved it. Was easy to make friends.
I would say Northeast is the worst. Very snooty. Put big emphasis on private schools, fancy summer programs, 'culture,' etc. RE The Telltale Sign a New Hire Isn’t Fitting In
behind a paywall, and nothing in the mainstream media is worth paying for. Spent a year and a half at Stanford, possibly the anus of Silicon Valley. Pretty much a sh*thole of privileged, over-entitled people. Thank God that afterwards I moved directly to Texas, passing GO on the way.
Oh, those wacky anarchists and protesters wanting Trump's inauguration to be an un-peaceful transfer of power. They want Trump should head up a coup? Nope. They want to make their bones as bad-asses, but all I'm seeing is they are asses,, and their asses will be grass over most of this great nation.
Mayhap the Gang of Z will chime in on this. RE Tyler Cowen's Best classical music recordings of 2016
I don't trust anyone's judgment who openly supports Black Lives Matter, as does this cowen thing. f' him and his blahg. I find Tyler Cowen to be interesting and I have watched a few of his videos and intend to watch some more. I do not know what he truly believes but I think a lot of people in his position are scared of offending the wrong person or group. Right now even saying white lives matter can get you labeled a racist and in some cases fired. The biggest problem I have with BLM is that they do incite riot, racism and killing police. They can call themselves whatever they want but it is obvious that they do not care about black lives any more than the SPLC cares about left wing bigots and racists.
