Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Monday, December 19. 2016Monday morning linksFeeling Grinch-like this morning, and so is my trainer. I told him this morning how good it was to walk into a place without Christmas music. He said that, as long as he is there, there will never be any. We agree that it is destroyed by overuse, and that 99% of the time you hear it, it is meant to induce you to spend money you don't have. Carols stay warm and sweet and rare in church during Advent, and Chrismas songs are good for a party song-along. Otherwise, if I hear Little Drummer Boy one more time in the supermarket I might go postal. Is everybody "Pre-diabetic" ? "The centenary of the Russian revolution should be mourned, not celebrated"
It was celebrated right up until the wee hours of November 9, 2016! Funny about the pre-diabetic. I just had a physical last week and the blood tests indicated "pre-diabetic". I am a sweet tooth, so it may be worth cutting back some, but I found that article to be timely.
While too much Christmas music is certainly ick ... think you could use a little Irish in the coffee this morning. Don't want anyone getting hurt or anything. LOL!
I totally agree about the Christmas music. I think it's overused on purpose. To subtly make you hate the season and the reason for the season. I'm an unabashed Christian and a thinking one at that.
I think the "assault" on Christmas comes in all shades. The unrelenting societal push to spend, spend, spend. The gushy, saccharine sweet made for tv movies. The mental exhaustion from the constant carols. Advent was, and should be, a time for quiet reflection on the upcoming miracle of Jesus' birth. Not an unending onslaught of commercialism. Thanks, you secular humans (snark)!!! Steve I agree, it is outrageous what the left is doing to the electors. If the situation was reversed, we would be hearing about it nonstop from the MSM. I have not heard one peep about any of it, other than on the internet; mostly right of center sites. Outrageous. Borderline sedition.
18 US Code 2384
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both. (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 808; July 24, 1956, ch. 678, § 1, 70 Stat. 623; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, § 330016(1)(N), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2148.) Note that I said borderline. The people threatening the electors are conspiring to overturn the election results, by threatening and harassing the electors. prediabetic just means you're at risk from possibly developing type 2 diabetes at some point in the future.
As the entire population, except those who already have type 2 diabetes, and maybe a small number who are genetically immune to it (which is unknown if it's even possible) are theoretically at risk, of course everyone's at risk. It basically means nothing. Just their way of saying "you're eating too much sugary stuff", and then they go on to give you a diet made up of 75% processed carbohydrates... Two things Democrats, and the media, should do to understand Trump
One of the many notable sentences: QUOTE: The media miss the things that matter to voters like how Trump thanks his voters verses Clinton's thank you; he holds rallies in the very regions that provided him with a win, while Hillary thanks the big dollar donors in Manhattan. The media misses things like this because for the most part it is doubling down on what it did during the election. They think we're dumb and they're smart. They're wrong on both counts.
"The new Republican president's 'unfamiliar questions' could fill a vacuum left by President Barack Obama, who 'basically withdrew' America from international politics, said Kissinger, who served enormous roles under two Republican presidents, Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford."
Obama didn't withdraw; he deliberately started an apology tour of the Middle East bent on (re)installing the Muslim Brotherhood in every country of Northern Africa and the Sunni states of the ME, which then the Arab Spring and endless turmoil. Clinton, Sammy Power and Susan Rice served as his Front Women to lecture the UN, EU and USA on human rights and social justice as displaced citizens of these counties in the throes of warfare became the migrants flooding Jordan, Europe and the U.S. He withdrew from Iraq before its new government stabilized, refusing to renegotiate U.S. involvement in the area, thus reigniting warfare as surrounding territories revolted against mercenary attacks. He INVENTED ISIS for goodness sake! Of course, DJT is going to be a breath of fresh air. He's not a warmonger nor is he run by the military-industrial complex elites who make money off of endless war. Christmas music is great to listen to when trimming the tree. Otherwise I rarely play it.

This site is worthless. I'm offended by comma errors in captioned photographic memes.
Another big truck used by terrorists to kill non-muslims. This time in Germany. Who could have seen this coming? What a shame that no one warned them to not allow terrorist, I mean refugee children, into their country.
Think about this for a minute: There are 100's of ways that individual terrorists can kill infidels. It can be a car or truck to run them over, a knife attack, baseball bats, poison... The list is endless. Most of them require that the terrorist actually is physically in the country with the victims. The time of the attack is completely at the whim of the terrorists. They can do it this week, next month, next year, 10 years from now or their kid can be groomed to do it next generation and the one after that. Once you bring them into the country there really is no defense against it. So Germany, England, France, Austria, Italy, America, etc. will just have to get accustomed to these attacks. No worries! Maybe they could use it like a national lottery with the proceeds going to pay for more police to frisk granny at the airports and government snooping. For just one Euro you can guess when the next attack is and win 1000 Euros. Guess the location too and get double payout. Maybe all we need to do is create more "no driving tractor trailers on the sidewalk" zones. I have an idea! How about a moratorium on immigrants from terrorist countries (and muslims) and maybe a national registry of refugees. Naw! That's just a crazy idea... According to reports, the person suspected in the German attack, Anis Amri, was subject to deportation, and evading the law.
