Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Perfect day

Perfect day for a bird hunt yesterday. The only imperfection is that my car key ended up somewhere in the brush.

I miss the days of my youth when pheasant hunting was an annual event. Those adrenaline pumps when the birds went up were memorable- meat was tasty.

Some of the best hunting days in eastern Colorado are right after a snowstorm/blizzard. The birds have been hunkered down for the storm and they are out in force on the next sunny day. Fresh snow narrows the odds but you still have to shoot straight!
