Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Raffaello Sanzi

Raphael was a contemporary of Michelangelo and DaVinci - the High Renaissance. The early Renaissance art intrigues me more, but Raphael's Madonnas, and his work at the Vatican, had a major impact, despite his short life. He definitely liked to paint cute cherubs. This is Isaiah - definitely a dude to listen to.

I love the facial expressions and body movement - very lifelike and emotional. One the other hand, Isaiah's body looks slightly mannerist to me, and the angels look like they have been doing bench presses... But this is a fresco and his best media was oil on wood so I will let it go. To get as much detail as he has on this fresco is incredibly difficult!

you are an expert.
truth is, I don't mind the mannerist stuff too much, even tho it is way out of fashion these days - but I do see what you mean.
hey - the cherubs are great. you have to assume that they look the way he wanted them to look.
