We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
My grand daughter (she's is over 21) is part of the Portland demonstration/riots. We talked about it a little. She isn't interested in hearing anything I might say so I don't offer her any advice. But she did say that there are agitators who hand out freshly printed signs and 'marching orders' to them. She said that a lot of the demonstrators know each other and have been to previous demonstrations before but that there are outsiders who either try to lead or simply try to cause violence. She said that they are easy to recognize as they cover their face as soon as the demonstrations begin and that they tend to be bigger more intimidating guys with attitude. She also said that one technique they are using is to have a dozen or so of the tough guys walk a couple hundred feet ahead of the crowd to identify and take out anyone foolish enough to object to what is going on.
Her motivation is that the organizers are telling the marchers that it is possible to force the electoral college vote for Hillary.
