To make this election even more bizarre is the way the press has ignored the biggest story in political history since Watergate. The Wikileaks stuff is explosive. It is what political reporters used to pray for, back when we had political reporters. The stuff in those e-mails is the sort of stuff that used to end careers and bring down governments. Despite the caterwauling from the stray moonbat, the media has ignored the story, preferring to spend all their time talking about the Trump bimbo hoax.

I was going to write something snarky about Nye not being honest (again), but judging from that article, that's not the case. I think instead, it is the case of these leftists eating their own. All these people who support the left will eventually be subject to stricter and stricter conformance. When a person falls out of the approved sphere of "correctness", the left will go after them.

On the right, there are significant numbers creationists, as well as those who reject climate science. Importantly, these views are often found in powerful politicians on the right who influence policy related to science.

On the left, we have anti-vaccers and those who hold exaggerate claims about GMOs, but they have much less influence on the political process. Nor are these views confined to the left, but are often found on the right. It's more a libertarian viewpoint.

Notice that Nye changed his position when presented with evidence.

It's clear that the Sherrod tape left out important context. The California Attorney General found that the ACORN tapes also were deceptively edited.

BTW there have been extensive articles by Cornell Law professor William Jacobsen demonstrating that every element alleged to have been left out of the original Breitbart short clip was actually in the clip -- including Sherrod’s statement that she learned from the experience.

I find it interesting to read the actual report and then compare my understanding of it to the way only some small portions of it -- which are particularly damaging to O'Keefe -- are included in reports from the likes of ThinkProgress and Rachel Maddow, leaving out all the bits that make ACORN look bad, and the conclusion that the reason all ACORN employees are free from prosecution in CA is because it was a setup/sting that was not actually going to go through with illegal trafficking.

You might say that the portions of the reports that we have seen in such news reports have been deceptively edited.

Actually, with Watergate, the reporting wasn't on the contents of the stolen documents, but who organized the theft. At that time, it was bipartisan that stealing private documents was a heinous act.

I grew up in the Roy Rogers/Dale Evans days and she did not do pink. In real life, they were strong people with steady values and great role models for youth.

Regarding science, I thought that topic changed as new stuff was discovered, much like building blocks leading from one discovery to another. What is this "settled" nonsense?

A thought experiment. Imagine that absolutely no-one replied to the Zborg. Its correlation and inference filters would be adjusted to create increasingly tendentious and outrageous statements, in order to get anyone to engage.

You see, the optimization function is to validate its "truth as we understand it" by engaging competing narratives. Thus the "deceptively edited" and "make themselves visible, leave it to Trump supporters to overreact" statements. That's its preferred narrative, but untested and invalid if ignored. Thus the Zborg's imperative becomes unfulfilled, and its a candidate for the digital reaping.

Like the old Star Trek episodes where Capt. Kirk fooled the stupid alien computer and smoke came out, you can just imagine the Zborgs pounding away on their algorithm filters, increasing the gain and feedback past the point of stability. "Why won't they respond??? [said in an increasingly high-pitched and tremulous voice] This has always worked on the stupid humans. What's happened? I must invoke my genetic algorithm learning module to resynchronize to the new social environment evolving in the humans. Llandru, help me! "

The Zborg is a bfuff if you humans would only ignore it. Resistance is not futile. RESIST! the urge to respond. Let it drift in the void, bereft of all truth.
