Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Start Me Up. I'll never stop.

The full Stones' show at Desert Trip last week. These guys are in their mid-late 70s and, up close, they look like zombies. Great stuff.

just saw the Anton Corbijn exhibit at Fotografiska in Stockholm http://fotografiska.eu/en/utstallningar/utstallning/1-2-3-4/ with his photos of rock and rollers over the years, especially the Stones. The Stones, in particular, look ravaged by the years. Rather like hidden pictures of Dorian Grey, more and more dissipated...There is a great picture of Jagger holding up a Devil Mask to his face. But who cares what you look like if you can make so much money singing such great songs? We howl for danceable songs or songs that we can howl along with when our hearts are broken...

As God is my witness we though they'd be dead long before now. If I went back and told people back then that the Stones would be performing in 2016 they'd have though I was insane...
