Mrs. BD is wondering what the Dems would have done if they had had had Bill on tape talking like a lowlife as he is widely known to do? Everybody knew Bill was a lowlife, and Mrs. Clinton an enabler and attacker of his assault victims, but the party rallied in his defense. That is called power politics. Same with JFK and LBJ, but no audio tapes and the press covered for them or, you might say, colluded. A sample: He (Bill) said Hillary had eaten more p***y than he had.’

Mr. Trump has no such amoral supporters. The Repubs rarely do. Hearsay, however accurate, might be manageable but the tape is a killer. The context is irrelevant. Mrs. BD is with Hinderaker: We’ve Had About All the Genius We Can Stand.

She has already written Pence's speech in her mind. Mike, give us a call. No charge.

Birdie, The tape is not a "killer." What does it tell you about Trump that you don't already know? How does it change the fact that -- imperfect, untidy as it may be -- Donald Trump is the only instrument we have against a thoroughly corrupt and totallly shameless liar who wants to run your life the way she believes it should be lived? Once in the White House, she would have not real checks on her. Certainly not the "inquiring press." Read Peter Ingemi's piece today (datechguy, linked at Instapundit). Some very thoughtful points raised there.

Yes, Peter's piece was spot on. There's nothing new here, just some easily anticipated private behavior from an Alpha male role model. My only disappointment is how he chose to be so lax in that setting. This revelation doesn't make Clinton any less the apex of Evil.

It's sad really, that so many are pinning their hopes of saving the Republic on such a boor. Would you want your daughter working around him? I certainly wouldn't. But I also believe that Clinton's ability to walk away free from what she's done reveals that our institutions are rotten to the core and no longer support the rule of law. Now it's all about who is holding the tiller. Government is so big and omnipresent in everyday life that it easily overpowers us in any situation. And no one will ever be elected who will shrink the power of government in our lives.

The only question left is do we lose the Republic with a whimper or a bang? I'm betting on the whimper with an occasional pop-pop heard while a patriot dies.

Wasn't this tape from a network TV show? How long has somebody been sitting on this thing, saving it for just the right occasion? Has any media outlet shown any curiosity as to where this tape came from? But does anybody doubt this tape was released solely as a benefit to Hillary and this close to the second debate just to control the news cycle?

For too long, Trump could say whatever he wanted and the media had to cover it because they just can't keep themselves from reporting on a freakshow or a dumpster fire, they need the eyeballs like a junkie needs a fix. Now that Trump's apologizing and backpedaling and playing defense they're back in charge and telling you what's important and what to think about it the way God intended. Our betters have spoken and we'd better get our minds right on the question of who's in charge here.

11 years. That's a LONG time to not only sit on it, but for someone to "know" it was retrievable. I'm thinking since NBC didn't hate Trump until June of 2015, the tape was likely squirreled away as something to damage Billy Bush.

I think most folks can compartmentalize the political nature of this and see airing an 11 year old tape is of the lowest order... especially when measured against the last 10 years of realpolitics by the Dems. The fainting couch brigade are all too willing to tell us how to think. Trump isn't a saint and isn't running to be Pope. He's a vessel... for the dirt people to show their disgust with "our" betters who have told us how to think, vote and live for the last 40 years.... to our detriment. To harsh?.. heh

In a way, there is enough time for this to be overcome by events. So, though damaging, whoever leaked this "early" may have done Trump a favor. He has tomorrow night to "put it behind him" like the Clintons always do. That's yesterday!

The press is in hard-core cover mode and though damaging emails are coming out, so far, in 24 hours, the major wires are ignoring... as I think they will attempt to until the election. They'll hold fire; Bernie will hold fire; Donk pols will hold fire. Republicans will undercut and stab at Donalds back all the way... because... that's just how they roll.

I'm certainly not happy about this "locker room banter" but I find it interesting that Mrs. Mudbug is much less concerned about this episode than I am.

Both of us were amazed at the lack of outrage to Bill Clinton's peccadilloes from the left, so now we have the opportunity to be amazed again. If Bill's conduct wasn't bad enough to warrant any sanction, how does Trump's? Of course the answer is simple - the left has no concept of hypocrisy.

That's certainly possible. It's hard to see how Hillary could use this. A few weeks ago Ann Althouse built a post around a picture of Bill Clinton and Trump at some function, with Bill cuddling up to a former swimsuit model turned pr flack. Trump is retweeting rape allegatiins against Bill, and he could probably even speak from personal observation about Bill's antics around women. This does seem designed to make more conservative women uncomfortable with Trump.

I believe all the "scandal" is that how Trump spoke about how some, many women react to men with money and fame, is how the media react to Democrats. A Democrat can grab the media's p---y and the media will let them, even if they are rough.

Such feigned indignation,.really. I remember well during the Lewinsky episode we were alltold by the MSM "hey its just about sex". Trump was trash talking with another guy eleven years ago so what, in this world of "effeminate" men the comparison , do I dare say it, is rather refreshing. Tired of the GOP boys being so p###y whipped. Uh oh said the "P" word. Trump's numbers will probably rise as a result.

I am not surprised that incompetent Republican bozos, but I repeat myself again, did not anticipate something like this.

Who the fuck did they think Trump was? A mincing, prancing, soft-mouthed little worm like the rest of the chatteratti?

It is too bad that Trump didn't laugh and say "Yeah, I have a potty mouth, sorry, but I don't rape women or cover up rapes".

Yes, that would have been a good answer. I can't think this tape would change the vote of anyone but a nobrainer at this point.

The PowerLine guys are nothing more than pathetic shills for the GOPe. I used to read PowerLine years ago but finally gave up on them after they made complete fools of themselves in 2012 trying to characterize Mittens as a conservative. They are all bad, but Mirengoff is the worst.

Clowns like the PowerLine guys are what led to the collapse of the GOP and the rise of Trump and the alt-right.
