Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

QUOTE: Scientists say Paris climate accord essentially useless, it’s going to get warmer anyway While the Earth's surface will continue to warm, “As you go more and more above 2, the negative effects become more and more pronounced, more and more severe.” I'm still waiting for all the hurricanes we're supposed to get.
Zach, the sun is going into a quiet period. We will have a mini ice age, just like the scientists predicted in the 1970's.
We are near the end of a post-glacial warming, when the temperature is still slowly rising. Like it has in the past glacial epochs. But we will have 30-50 years of mini-ice age coming up. You are behind the times of leftist nomenclature. "Global warming" os passe-over. It is now "global climate change", because it will be getting colder. You should forget "globa warming", because it will cause you to have cognative dissonance and your head will explode when you can't unerstand why you have to wear a winter coat when your political leaders tell you that you will die of a 2 degree heat wave. There is a reason it is called "Greenland", Zaach, from the medieval warm period, which was warmer than now. It is sad how you fall for the leftist propaganda. 99% of all (global warming) statistics are made up. jaybird: the sun is going into a quiet period.
Possibly, though the evidence of that is only circumstantial. jaybird: We are near the end of a post-glacial warming, when the temperature is still slowly rising. What will those climate scientists come up with next! In any case, while orbital changes would normally mean the Earth would be entering an ice age within the next thousand years or so, anthropogenic warming is overwhelming the natural signal. See Ganopolski et al., Critical insolation–CO2 relation for diagnosing past and future glacial inception, Nature 2016. jaybird: "Global warming" os passe-over. It is now "global climate change", because it will be getting colder. Both terms are used, but refer to different things. Global warming refers to the mean temperature of the Earth's surface, which is expected to continue to rise. Climate change refers to regional changes in climate. Does Donald Trump want to win?
Who in their right mind would keep the schedule he has maintained over the last 16 months and risk his brand if he didn't have The Win as a goal? I have worked multiple campaigns over decades. He is the most tenacious candidate I have ever encountered, bar none. Despite what the media pushes, his key message remains the same: America and Americans first. I've grown rather fond of the man and those who surround him: Sheriff Joe, Milwaukee County's Sheriff David Clarke, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani are not the reoccurring hold-overs who have so ripped us off over the years. Let's wipe the slate and start anew. What do we have to lose? This Clinton Crime Cabal & Friends has lost its luster as one bank after another announces scandals and our sham economy starts to crumble. MAGA! "Why Is Donald Trump Keeping The Alicia Machado Story Alive?"
I don't know if it is the best tactic for an election, but often when you have employees or others who want to tear you down with an issue, the best way to make it die it to discuss it to death. Look at how the MSM and pundits, even Hillary wants to move on to some new headline. But Trump is keeping them on this topic. A stupid topic, but also one that everyone has already factored in. And now, Trump is beating them with Machado. More interesting is that Hillary, et al, are promoting how Trump didn't treat this woman with girly deference just as they are trying to say Hillary, a woman, is fully equal with men. Which is it, girly deference or women's equality? In the no holds barred, presidential election campaign? Response to an article on how Trump coopted the Dem working class base:
http://althouse.blogspot.com/2016/10/the-democratic-party-could-have-blocked.html wildswan said... PB and J alludes in a Delphic way to the fact that in one column Nutting says that one million jobs were lost and in another Nutting says five million were lost. In one column Nutting says trade deals had no influence on loss of manufacturing jobs (the jobs were lost due to automation making workers redundant), In another column Nutting says that trade deals were bad and Hillary Clinton said so at the time and the Democrats have said so all along and so Trump's issue is WHAT THE DEMOCRATS SHOULD BE SAYING IF THEY CARED ABOUT THE WORKER. PBJ noticed this set of contradictions but is "too lazy" to look for "contradictions" and assumes they don't exist because that would be "lame". ("I'm too lazy to bother looking for contradictions. And, I'm assuming there aren't any, because that would be quite lame for Nutting.") Possibly, PBJ, your mind was a little too quick for your Hillary blindness and you saw the contradiction - after all you pointed it out and I see it is there too, thanks to you - but now you've gone all fetal and are rolled up in a tight ball denying you saw anything because what you saw is that.............. Trump is right. Trump is right. The Democrats in this election have deserted the workers and Trump is speaking for them. More - what he is saying is what Democrats used to say - what Hillary Clinton once said. And what they once said is still true - American workers have been harmed, their interests have not been considered in trade deals. But the Clintons have made millions from promoting globalization and so have most Democratic (and Republican) politicians. And so they have dropped the banner which Trump has picked up. And now things Hillary used to say, she says are insane departures from reality because he political opponent is saying them. She says the workers are a basket of deplorables for wanting jobs, not welfare. The blacks in the Great Lakes region went from 84% employment to 50% employment due to loss of manufacturing jobs due to trade deals and also automation. But what does Hillary want to do about jobs for black and white alike? She wants to increase government handouts. Yet Democratic city and state governments in the Great Lakes region, are on the verge of bankruptcy. Whoever is elected, the problem will come to a head in the next four years. What will the Democrats do? Take a look at PBJ and his tight fetal roll after he glimpsed the truth. Only a man and a Republican will do anything but whine about discrimination. Only a man will try to be Mr. Fix-It. The gender cruising snowflakes and their elected representatives will just seek a Safe Space for their childish selves. They will damage like children driving a car. They will not fix what they broke; they will not acknowledge they broke it; they will not acknowledge it is broken. Only the electorate is broken and oh so deplorable. 10/1/16, 12:13 PM The Dems haven't deserted ALL the workers. They still are in bed with the Public Sector Unions with the possible exception of Police and Fire. Also, if I recall correctly, during the bailouts, they did throw a lot of other pension funds, including unions, under the bus on behalf of the UAW.
Oh, man, I wish Nigel Farage could run for president here. Failing that, if he can help Trump debate, terrific.
I never understood these "buy them transportation" kindnesses. It seems if the kid had had a job for months, then he should have had enough brains to pick up a cheap bike with his own money.
