We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Things like "climate change" and "transgender rights"and "gay marriage" are all to distract us from the fact that Obama and the Democrats have bankrupted America and our economic condition rivals that of the worst days of the Great Depression. Businesses all over the country are slowly dying, year by year.
This is a good question posed by JJM. In many ways it is passé. But money is still raised in the name of global warming. In Ontario, 1.9 billion dollars was taken from the public by the government to be given to Cap and Trade Con Men.
I think now in the U.S. it will be achieved more subtlely. The Paris accord failed but they are still trying. The new approach is to go in through the back door.
Tee Hee. I don't know you so I can't call you "Homophobic" but, what the hell, You, sir, are Homophobic. Probably Racist and a bunch of other things, too. I should research all the things that you could be called. The word "correct" comes to mind.
The Global Warming/Climate Change little boys have cried wolf too may times and no one listens any more. They can only talk to the audience of true believers and their numbers are dwindling...not rapidly enough though as they continue to be able to fund their nonsense. The only climate change most people pay attention to is what they see out their window every morning.
I'm not sure people have really been convinced it's not happening. It's just that they're confused now, inclined to assume that they've been lied to at least to some extent, and don't believe anything important is imminent. They've tuned the issue out. If some convincing data don't show up soon, they'll gradually become convinced, perhaps, that global warming was a hoax or an error. For the time being, I suspect a whole lot of people accept the theory on a sort of weak, provisional basis as Received Wisdom, kind of like the idea that eating eggs causes heart disease.
> They've tuned the issue out.
Yes, it is easy to rob a willing or gulity victem.
Tell them it's their fault and they need to pay compensation.
If they don''t, continue to make them guilty until they do.
