Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The day the USA started meddling in the mid east.....was that during Jefferson's administration or are you referring to a more current time?
Beat me to it. He may be right that we shouldn't be there, but missteps like this illustrate he may not have inquired too deeply into the history. The remainder of his historical references also lack context as well.
As for blaming Bill Clinton's strategy for 9/11, I try to keep the focus of initial blame on those who actually perpetrated the attacks. It's fair to ask whether this counterstrategy or that one is a better response on our part, but the attackers are still the ones responsible. Now that made me chuckle…frequently,,,a bunch…many times…still giggling…an ear worm…a brain worm…oh pleeeeeze.

This discredits the entire story. Re: Dr. Jane Orient: ‘Media Is Being Told Not to Give Us the Whole Story’ on Hillary Clinton’s Health
Of course the press is not giving us the whole story. Either they don't know it or they are complicit. If the situation was truly as benign as the campaign is claiming, there is no reason to lie in the first place or seemingly have a doctor or nurse with her everywhere she goes or avoid going to the ER after she fainted or wear anti seizure sun glasses. But then, they're Democrats. They lie. That's what they do! https://www.democrats.org/about/our-history It's obvious they are all being instructed, word for word, what they must say. Yesterday you could identify who were the Democrat media by how they all ran the same story that Clinton was in trouble because she tried to "power through her pneumonia" because she is a "tough woman." Members of the Democrat Soviet press who were part of this include ABC. NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, the Washington Post and the New York Times, whose commentators all used the same phrases.

I believe it was earlier in the interview with Anderson Cooper where he asks her why she just didn't tell the truth that she had pneumonia. Her response was that she didn't think it was a that big a deal. So she doesn't think it's important to be honest about less important issues. Of course, she doesn't think being honest about more important issues either (like the handling of classified information). "I've Become A Racist": No, he's realized he's Danish, and the Muslims do not want to and will not become Danes. They are parasites.

This is a lot like all those who were in favor of/endorsed Obamacare - until they realized that they were part of the vast majority who were going to get screwed. The idea of it was pleasing as long as the fallout was on others. This is the same thing. All those who think of the joys of diversity as some pie in the sky idea (ethnic restaurants, niche food shops, etc) are those who still maintain some percentage of majority in their immediate environs. When that flips, and those percentages change, those ideas are going to go head to head with ugly reality and it won't be pretty. > Your body can only process about 10 gms of protein per hour.
What is your source for this? I found some similar information a while back, but it didn't give any sorts of numbers. What I found was documentation stating that protein was only absorbed in a short area of intestine. > More than that goes to poo and pee. To fecees. In order to get into your urine you it has to be absorbed by the digestive tract. > Multiple small meals, for you exercisers and especially lifters. But also it helps explain why high protein meals help lose weight when you eat three meals a day. If you don't absorb the calories they can't be used for energy. Re: Home Depot Co-Founder Has a Message for Republicans
Maybe Marcus could talk to his old partner Arthur Blank about the Republican virtue of getting the taxpayer to pick up a big chunk of the tab for a new stadium for your NFL team. As a Democrat who previously had believed the media when they dismissed the right-wing's claims about Hillary being in poor health, I am deeply annoyed. I paid no attention to all the blah blah blah about Hillary's health because I figured it was a bunch of nothing.
It's not nothing. There is something much more wrong with Hillary's health than just allergies that turned into pneumonia. I am really really annoyed that the mainstream media have apparently been covering for her. Did they really think this wouldn't get out until after the election? Watching the video clip from Sunday, I saw a frail old woman who almost fell backwards twice while adjusting (?) her colostomy bag, maybe (?), and then got tossed feet dragging into a vehicle. She lost a shoe. As they say in the military, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (WTF). What is going on here? Why is Hillary having such serious health episodes, and what else might they be covering up? Finally, what on earth was it that fell out of Hillary's right pants leg??? Re You Are A “Deplorable”
"Hillary Clinton, appearing at a gala campaign fundraiser on Friday featuring a performance by Barbra Streisand, told the crowd that half of rival Donald Trump’s supporters could be put “into what I call the basket of deplorables,” while the the rest are “desperate for change.” “To just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables,’” Clinton said, according to a recording of her remarks obtained by Variety. “Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric. Now some of those folks, they are irredeemable, but thankfully, they are not America.” And the crowd laughed. Sort of the shades of My Man Godfrey. Perhaps it’s been too long since the last Great Depression. Or the cloud people at the “gala fundraiser” just don’t care about the “little people” and the jobs they do not have." ______________________________________ I think it's time to bring the tumbrels out of storage and make sure the wheels are rolling smoothly. It wouldn't be all THAT hard to run a scanner across the frequencies those ear pieces use, find out the frequency, and jam it.
It would also be useful to demand that she not use it during the debates, unless it's a hearing aid (which she should have to demonstrate). Drama Queens:
How does living in a post scarcity world and one of impressive medical strides impact our culture? They may appall us, but can we say the changes in attitude and belief that are so prevalent among the young are as destructive now as they would have been a hundred years ago? Every post WWII generation has been increasingly cocooned and seemingly more infantilized and feminized. There is an old , as far as I know uncorroborated statistic, that even in America, if you were born in 1900, you had a 50/50 chance of being an orphan before you were five years old. In addition to uncertainty and the daily grind to feed, clothe, and keep yourself warm, there was always the potential for sudden tragedy. Loss, pain, and grief were a constant for almost everyone, regardless of status or wealth. Contrast that to today, in a world where there may be a 5 generation picture on the mantel. We evolved big brains capable of making life and death decisions in milliseconds. Compared to most of human history, many people, who live in the west, are fairly coddled, living pretty safe, secure, and uneventful lives, could it be, even empty lives? Is opening your electric bill or driving on icy streets the most exciting thing you do? Maybe many folks crave drama and that is why media revolves around melodrama, and all this huge investment in faux outrage is a pathetic substitute for real life survival perogatives. http://thezman.com/wordpress/?p=3113 “Aldous Huxley, another smart Brit, got a lot right about the future. In Brave New World, the Savage eventually kills himself rather than conform to the dull stability of the World State.” Or , maybe just self destructs? Maybe the folks who were brain washed to value self actualization and all those middle class values like accomplishment, independence, self discipline, family life, fairness, accountability, saving, postponement of gratification, civic mindedness……….and contributing to the economic pie, are the odd men out. It’s apparent that the political class and their minions don’t have a clear vision of how the world will work as much of what is counted as labor is devalued or an economy that is not driven by scarcity in food or consumer products and security. The women's magazine approach is what passes for journalism today. Re: Dakota Access Pipeline protests
"According to a court document filed by the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, the construction site was home to more than two dozen graves, and scores of stone rings, effigies, and other artifacts." Classic left wing tactics. How many graveyards have been relocated over the years as rail and highway projects required it. There are other ways to preserve "artifacts" than simply stopping all forward progress every time the left uses this tactic. What have the "tribes" done to preserve these sacred sites? If you haven't visited a Indain reservation lately they are hot beds of alcohol and drug abuse and child abuse. Maybe that should be their focus. |
