Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Gun Crime Stats

Firearm-related crime has plummeted since 1993 in the US. DOJ stats and graphs here.

Precipitants of homicides shows a steady drop in arguments/fights, but an increase in felony crime-related murders.

All regions of the country have seen a drop in homicide.

I would love to see this chart compared to gun crimes in the UK where all handguns have been banned and gun violence has skyrocketed.

I've always wondered why people take issue with the millions of honorably discharged veterans in particular owning guns. The gun control advocates really don't want anyone armed, or at best from their perspective, armed mininally and strictly controled/restricted/supervised. What an affront to all Veterans who have been trained in the use of firearms. What a slap in the face to combat veterans in particular who have had to use a weapon then to be told they can't be trusted to have weapons at home.
