We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Many people have "left" the church and not God. The main line denominations have gone so over the top leaning left they don't even hold to the teachings of the Bible. They have tried to change their ways to be "inclusive" and are instead losing their long time members. Ours lost us when the now minister started pushing his leftist political dogma during church. We need to find a church where we can actually feel like we are in a church service and not some social justice experiment.
Churches in America have abandoned the faith in favor of trumpeting the SJW cult. This is true in every faith from the lukewarm Pope, bishops, and priests to the head people and boards of every Protestant denomination. They do not actually believe the doctrine and the laws that Congress, Presidents, and the Courts approve of proves it. Only a collapse of the high and mighty will change it.
Not totally true: look at the American Anglican Council. They've broken away from the Episcopalians on the matter of fidelity to the Bible and are amalgamated with the Global South and Gafcon. Various congregations in Canada are leaving the Anglican Church of Canada to affiliate with them. Preaching the word of Christ, in love and charity, but not bowing to worldly dictates.
Every thing gets old and fades away. I grew up Methodist but left as they sought approval from people not God. What is strange is John Wesley was teaching a radical Christianity of seeking God in all things and not the approval of men. Religion today is taking that same route. So it is the mainstream church that has left its first love but not the people. They are still seeking God....
