Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re, Huma under oath: There is also the news late yesterday reported in The Hill that Wikileaks has released over a thousand of Hillary's private war emails while she was Secretary of State. I predict this will cause many of her supporters to change their minds...about Julian Assange. It will be rapid and the mental processes not visible to the individual, who will switch from seeing him as an important, if unpredictable whistleblower to an unreliable source overnight. We have always been at war with Eastasia.
As to the psychiatrist who also identifies possession, I am quite curious. I am an evangelical Christian who has worked in an acute psychiatric hospital for almost forty years, and have seen no cases I would characterize as possession. But then, I am biased against seeing them because of the hundreds of cases I have seen attributed to demons that were more easily explainable by standard diagnoses. I may have missed something. Or this psychiatrist may just be incorrect. QUOTE: Huma admits under oath that Hillary burned her daily schedule ... “If there was a schedule that was created that was her Secretary of State daily schedule, and a copy of that was then put in the burn bag, that . . . that certainly happened on . . . on more than one occasion,” It says right there, "copy". Typical. Change the subject from what I was commenting on to something you like better. Anything about the Russians having her emails you'd like to speak up about?
We were responding to the article's claim, not yours. We put our comment in the subthread to keep the topic in a single place, but if you prefer, next time we'll start a new thread. Meanwhile, we'll respond to your comment.
Assistant Village Idiot: There is also the news late yesterday reported in The Hill that Wikileaks has released over a thousand of Hillary's private war emails while she was Secretary of State. According to The Hill, "They stem from a trove of emails released by State Department in February." Taking a quick look at a few of the emails, most of them happen to be forwards of newspaper articles, or other information that is generally available. Some of them include Clinton's schedule, which is ironic considering the claim that they were "burned". Picking a random day (12/11/2011), she started at 8:55 AM and was scheduled to end her day at 9:25 PM. Why should a search of already released emails be significant? QUOTE: Sen. D’Amato Drops Bomb: Hillary Allowed Russia to Take Ownership of US Uranium to Sell to Iran And the right wing echochamber echos. In fact, Iran has been shipping uranium to Russia. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/29/world/middleeast/iran-hands-over-stockpile-of-enriched-uranium-to-russia.html Kinda begs the question Zach. Hillary and Bill received in excess of $100 million to allow the transfer of an American uranium mine to Russia.
The Clinton's have spent the last 7 plus years selling favors and America's assets and secrets. They used their 'charitable' foundation to wash the money they made from this criminal enterprise. They destroyed evidence and lied to and mislead investigators and the public. They are motivated by self interest and totally corrupt and bereft of honor and honesty. In a just and civilized world they would have been jailed long ago. But in the Orwellian world of left wing grifter politics run by the Democrats, the largest hate group in history Hillary Clinton can not only run for president but will likely be elected president. How ironic!!! Just before finishing this FBI Director Comey has kissed Clinton's ring and will not recommend any legal action against Hillary. I am stunned (sarcasm). I am sure that this has nothing to do with Bill's not so secret meeting with the AG (sarcasm again). What a sham. GoneWithTheWind: Hillary and Bill received in excess of $100 million to allow the transfer of an American uranium mine to Russia.
The decision to allow minority ownership of uranium resources by Russia had to pass a multitude of hurdles, including Canadian government approval, most of which were not under the control of Clinton. The article states $145 million in donations, but only lists the source for $2 million. Furthermore, the Clinton Foundation is not the Clintons. Nor did you offer evidence that Russia is selling uranium to Iran. There is no doubt that there is a confluence of money and politics, but that is the nature of money and politics. Not to be redundant but again begs the question. When in your wildest dreams did you ever think our government would take cash from a foreign interest so that we would sell an American uranium mine to Russia??? How is that possible and Americans are not rioting in the streets? How is that possible and the CIA, FBI and the military leaders say nothing?
YOU think the issue is how much cash did they get is more important AND how much control they have over the payola. It is not! The issue is treason! Open and blatant treason and what we do about it. Psychiatrist- Good article. I like how he explained that this is supernatural, by definition not subject to natural laws of physics.
Hot dog contest- Immoral. Left eats left- History repeats. From the Jacobins, to the Bolsheviks to now, leftists are hateful power hungry tyrants. Of course they hate each other. Zachriel used the term "right wing echo chamber." Seriously? She does nothing but repeat leftist clichés; that and argue semantics. See above. DrTorch: "right wing echo chamber."
D'Amato made unsubstantiated claims. They are repeated as if they were substantive on right-wing inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist blogs. Unsubstantiated claims: D'Amato may have commented past his personal information, but at least it's a reasonable supposition unlike Harry Reid's claim that Romney didn't pay any taxes. The MSM was more than happy to repeat that claim without equating it to McCarthyite tactics. It was actually worse, because it was a personal attack against a presidential candidate. I suppose none of the [s]left wing[/s] inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist blogs.
I'll be anxiously awaiting the lefty non-echo chamber tell us how Hillary did nothing wrong or unusual with her private email server after Comey's press conference today. mudbug: it's a reasonable supposition
Iran is exporting refined uranium to Russia. Russia doesn't want Iran to have nukes, for obvious reasons. Merely saying something is so, doesn't make it so. Echoing it doesn't make the claim more substantial. Oh, man, if that's the case, you're in deep trouble with most of your arguments.

Z: Russia doesn't want Iran to have nukes, for obvious reasons.
Since Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani met Putin flouting a UN travel ban, it is logical to assume that Iran and Russia are closer than many are willing to believe. Just what are the "obvious" reasons for Russian not wanting Iran to have nukes? Z: Merely saying something is so, doesn't make it so. Echoing it doesn't make the claim more substantial. Correct, but that point is lost on those who do not follow politics closely. The assertion that a presidential candidate didn't pay taxes was damaging even though there was no substantiation. When the press discusses what possible damage it might cause rather than that Reid trafficked in innuendo worse than the McCarthy (the boogey man for the left). So the leftist echo chamber spread the innuendo. The same thing will happen with Clinton's 'exoneration' by Comey. The fact that he said there was evidence that she has been lying through her teeth since this thing began, will be lost by the MSM and the leftist blogs. The lefty echochamber will drown out the negative information.

That was overlooked by the West as it concerned attempts to stabilize Syria. mudbug: Just what are the "obvious" reasons for Russian not wanting Iran to have nukes? Russia just concluded a deal meant to forestall Iran from acquiring nukes as a member of the P5+1. While Russia has generally good relations with Iran, Iran is not known for political stability, and nuclear weapons would significantly change the balance of power in the region, reducing Russia's influence. Not to mention, Russia is in missile range. mudbug: The assertion that a presidential candidate didn't pay taxes was damaging even though there was no substantiation. Romney could have released his tax returns, and shown otherwise. mudbug: When the press discusses what possible damage it might cause rather than that Reid trafficked in innuendo worse than the McCarthy Saying someone legally avoided paying taxes is not "innuendo worse" than accusing people of being communists. But your argument seems to be that it's okay to not only make unfounded accusations, but to be part of a group that echos those accusations, often long after they have been debunked. mudbug: The fact that he said there was evidence that she has been lying through her teeth since this thing began, will be lost by the MSM and the leftist blogs. The lefty echochamber will drown out the negative information. The claim was that she had broken the law, which was almost certainly not the case. The problem is when Republicans disseminate mistruths, and their base becomes disappointed when it turns out you can't remove Obama from the presidency because he's a Kenyan-born Muslim infiltrator. This is the root of Trumpism.

So... How does that dispute the relationship between Russia and Iran? Z: ... nuclear weapons would significantly change the balance of power in the region, reducing Russia's influence. Not to mention, Russia is in missile range. The balance of power would swing toward Iran. Russian and Iran, being allies, would redound to Russia's benefit. Since they are friends, the fact that Russia is in missile range is immaterial. The more important fact is that much of Europe and all of Israel is also in missile range. If Russia has designs on parts of Europe, what better thing than an unhinged ally to do the dirty work for you? Z: Saying someone legally avoided paying taxes is not "innuendo worse" than accusing people of being communists. Really? Specifically ho was McCarthy accusing of being a communist? Z: The claim was that she had broken the law, which was almost certainly not the case Comey said that there was evidence that she broke the law and that all her statements about her handling of classified documents were lies. mudbug: How does that dispute the relationship between Russia and Iran?
We've already stipulated that Russia and Iran have generally good relations. That doesn't mean they want Iran or other countries to acquire nuclear weapons. Keep in mind that Russia was part of P5+1. mudbug: Specifically ho was McCarthy accusing of being a communist? http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/mccarthy-says-communists-are-in-state-department mudbug: Comey said that there was evidence that she broke the law and that all her statements about her handling of classified documents were lies. The closest statement by Comey to support your contention was "Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case." Such cases are generally handled administratively, and it seems to be more a case of new technology causing new problems. Z: That doesn't mean they want Iran or other countries to acquire nuclear weapons. Keep in mind that Russia was part of P5+1.
The P5+1 nuke deal at best delays an Iranian nuke and rescues the Iranian economy by lifting international sanctions against a known sponsor of terror. It doesn't indicate any real desire to keep Iran from having a nuke. mudbug: Specifically [w]ho was McCarthy accusing of being a communist? Z: http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/mccarthy-says-communists-are-in-state-department You didn't answer my question, but your link did. He did not name a single State Department person of being a communist. That was the thing that made what he did so bad - he said he had a list of communists in the State Department but would never say who they were or why he believed there were communists in the State Department. Z: The closest statement by Comey to support your contention was "Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case." Clinton was required to turn over all work-related documents but: QUOTE: The FBI also discovered several thousand work-related e-mails that were not in the group of 30,000 that were returned by Secretary Clinton to State in 2014. Clinton said there were no classified information on her servers (we now know there was more than one), but: QUOTE: With respect to the thousands of e-mails we found that were not among those produced to State, agencies have concluded that three of those were classified at the time they were sent or received, one at the Secret level and two at the Confidential level. There were no additional Top Secret e-mails found. Finally, none of those we found have since been “up-classified.” The law pertaining to Clinton's email issue states: QUOTE: (f) Whoever, being entrusted with or having lawful possession or control of any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, note, or information, relating to the national defense, (1) through gross negligence permits the same to be removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of his trust, or to be lost, stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, or (2) having knowledge that the same has been illegally removed from its proper place of custody or delivered to anyone in violation of its trust, or lost, or stolen, abstracted, or destroyed, and fails to make prompt report of such loss, theft, abstraction, or destruction to his superior officer— Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both. And Comey said: QUOTE: ... there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information. For example, seven e-mail chains concern matters that were classified at the Top Secret/Special Access Program level when they were sent and received. These chains involved Secretary Clinton both sending e-mails about those matters and receiving e-mails from others about the same matters. There is evidence to support a conclusion that any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton’s position, or in the position of those government employees with whom she was corresponding about these matters, should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation. In addition to this highly sensitive information, we also found information that was properly classified as Secret by the U.S. Intelligence Community at the time it was discussed on e-mail (that is, excluding the later “up-classified” e-mails). None of these e-mails should have been on any kind of unclassified system, but their presence is especially concerning because all of these e-mails were housed on unclassified personal servers not even supported by full-time security staff, like those found at Departments and Agencies of the U.S. Government—or even with a commercial service like Gmail. "extremely careless" is another way of saying that they were grossly negligent. And Comey said: QUOTE: Given that combination of factors, we assess it is possible that hostile actors gained access to Secretary Clinton’s personal e-mail account. Handling classified information in a way that could allow hostile actors access to it is more than gross negligence since if she had used the State Department servers as she was expected to, this situation would not have occurred. The FBI investigates. It does not decide whether there should be a prosecution. That is the job of a prosecutor. It seems to me that he overstepped his bounds in making a judgement on whether something should be prosecuted. You are just another voice in the lefty echo chamber defending Clinton against the undefensible. mudbug: The P5+1 nuke deal at best delays an Iranian nuke ...
That's right. It's prima facie evidence that Russia doesn't want Iran to have a nuclear capability; or at least later, not sooner. mudbug: He did not name a single State Department person of being a communist. He smeared many by association. The most famous specific name, of course, was Fred Fisher. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqQD4dzVkwk mudbug: Clinton was required to turn over all work-related documents but: Comey: "I should add here that we found no evidence that any of the additional work-related e-mails were intentionally deleted in an effort to conceal them." mudbug: Clinton said there were no classified information on her servers She modified her statement to "marked classified". mudbug: "extremely careless" is another way of saying that they were grossly negligent. It turns out that nearly everyone at State doesn't do everything exactly right. That's because the technology has far outstripped the policies and procedures in place, and when things need to get done, people try to get them done. For instance, the Secretary of State was tasked with approving drone strikes. Because of the time-sensitive nature of drone attacks, when she wasn't near a secure location, they emailed her for approval. A known example is Colin Powell, who, as Secretary of State, used AOL of all things, on a standard Internet connection. Nor did he keep records of those emails. mudbug: The FBI investigates. It does not decide whether there should be a prosecution. That is the job of a prosecutor. It seems to me that he overstepped his bounds in making a judgement on whether something should be prosecuted. That is incorrect. Making a recommendation is part of the job for the FBI. mudbug: You are just another voice in the lefty echo chamber defending Clinton against the undefensible. That this was another big nothing-burger is borne out by Comey's decision to recommend against filing charges. |
