We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
At some point in history, one culture was going to dominate. And, if you look back at history, different cultures did take turns 'dominating' different parts of the world.
We also know that many advancements in science came from not only China, but the Middle East and Europe.
It is ridiculous to blame one culture or group of people for dominating in a world full of competition. Why don't we look at the end result instead? The United States is the most prosperous, most free nation on earth. Thank goodness it was a group of people from Europe who figured this out and created this place.
It wouldn't matter to me if it were Chinese people, Hispanic people or African people. But why must some denigrate the accomplishment based on the color of someone's skin or their heritage?
Nope. Spent the day running my Boy Scout Troop's 18th annual pancake breakfast. From 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM we fed > 600 people blueberry pancakes, sausage (regular and maple), scrambled eggs, coffee, juices, milk et. al., all you could eat for $7. It took a full day on site for set up and lots of hours for everyone to get ready. We finished clean up at the local park district where we held it at 2:30 PM and didn't really sit down at home until 4 PM. But we made a few thousand dollars for the Troop and saw a lot of people from the community, especially a lot of our old ex-Scouts. The Mayor dropped by as well after we invited him. Money quote from him; "This is your 18th year of doing this? Where have I been?"
