Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Isn't Kevin Williams the one who claims that everyday Americans who just want decent "value adding" jobs and to contribute to their communities are either meth heads and on the dole or deserve to be left behind, that Kevin Williams? Why he sounds just like a shill for the Globalists, Financialists, and the Multinationals, aka the political paymasters.

A smart guy but has TDS. Rightly or wrongly, I dunno Understood BD, since I’m ambivalent, myself. However, I can’t overlook his casual bigotry toward working people.
On the Althouse blog there is a poll asking the participants to imagine whether they would have been a Loyalist or a Rebel. Naturally, Trump comes into play. “I think they were all originally loyalist until the abuses of the crown became so egregious some hearty souls chose to step off into the unknown over the known." Exactly. thank you for this post, I am a big big fan of this internet site would like to continue updated.
He didn't say that. It is not logical or fair to say he did. You are using false equivalences of "well he said this, which is the same as saying that, which is the same as saying three other things."
When you're right, you're right AVI. I reread the original and did conflate it with rebuttals I read latter.
However, the suggestion that Trump supporters are the underclass seems counter intuitive to me, since I would expect the underclass to support the "welfare" party. Yeah, I get that. There are degrees of looking down one's nose, apparently.
Trump haters are irrational. No one KNOWS that Trump will be a bad President. He might turn out to be the best ever.
Thank you for saying this! All other candidates had a political history to review.
When wondering how Trump would do as president, you MUST look at the history of his business and his words from the past. That is all you have. And NONE of it tells me he would be 'terrible' at all. In fact, it tells me he would be tough with other countries, very America-focused and would find ways to save money to do things in a shorter amount of time. Instead, we have speculative thinking based on people's feelings. Their dislike of his tv show or his candid speech. These are not things to base your opinions on. Look at his actual words in interviews from decades. Read his books. Where has his message changed since last June when he announced he was running? He is very consistent in his messaging. Anyway, tired of being told Trump will do a bad job. I see no evidence of this. It's damning with faint praise--but unfortunately this is his real selling point: that with Clinton we can be certain of a disaster, and with Trump there's at least a chance he won't be too awful.
"... Technically, this is an abuse of the flag but we'll give them a pass."
The ONLY abuse was the girl in the WHITE bikini who did not sport the RW and B, but had the temerity to show us only her side view! Get with the program, Missy! Yes, the flag is a symbol and anything that reminds people of that symbol is a good thing.
The girl in the surrender bikini is out of place. Besides, I've talked to girls in such surrender bikinis and regardless of the symbol they are flying, they don't give in to unwanted attention. It's quite scandalous. It really is this simple: Mrs Clinton should not be President.
However, owing to the highbrow erudition of our betters in the opinion sweatshops, even though they are Republican and conservative, Mrs Clinton stands a superior chance of winning the Presidency. There is delicious irony here. That woman has an even more corrupt soul than has Trump. My bet is that she is much more horrible than is Trump. In private. After marrying her way into the halls of power, she has spent the decades inside to perfect her public face. Trump, rough and ready, is brand spanking new to this game, better keep riling people up while at the same time polishing his presentation. I never supported Trump in the primaries, I always feel like I must add that, but I enthusiastically support him over her. I can't believe that the anti-Trump Republicans are doing this to us, to our beautiful America, giving us Mrs Clinton. Boo. Thumbs down. Not liked. Right on, Jayne. Let's get Trump elected, bury Hillary in the Dracula coffin, and draw up impeachment papers in case Trump turns out to be ineffective. Leave it to "The Week", an offshoot of the WashPost, to serve up a swell hit piece that looks like a sweet cream pie.
Well said!
I'm voting for Trump for two reasons; 1) I loathe HRC to the core of my being, 2) it is time to end the farce that is the Republican party. Every time an elite pundit tells me why I shouldn't vote for Trump confirms my resolve to do so. "Lesbian couple still threatened"
The story was very sympathetic to this couple but ignored the criminal treatment of the owners of Sweet Cakes. This nice lesbian couple knew, that is they researched to find, cake bakers who were Christian and very religious. They set out to make an example of them and to win a nice cash award for their troubles. This was not some innocent event where they were turned down by mean Christians. They insisted on an explicit homosexual message on their cake which they knew would alert the baker. They conspired with the state bureaucrat to extort the cake baker. And yet when the baker choose to fight the ruling this article refers to that as "the bakers decided to go nuclear" because they decided to appeal the fine. Throughout this saga the media has trashed the baker (who has also received death threats) and lied about the acts and intent of the lesbian couple. It is interesting that a baker or anyone who owns a business can be fined and put out of business for following their religious beliefs regarding homosexuality but doing essentially the same thing in a pro-homosexuality act is allowed. What is the difference between what this baker did and what Bruce Springsteen and others did when they refused to put on scheduled concerts? Did they not deny a service based on a personal belief regarding homosexuality??? I can't muster much pity for people who sued over something minor and crushed someone else's civil rights. Just go to another bakery, morons.
Our politicians (and I included our judicial system as the most political of all) have reached the point that a minority (homosexuals) have the right to sue the majority (heterosexuals) over the "right" to live according to one's morals. A transexual MtF (minority) has the "right" to use a women's locker room when, in fact, the privacy of the majority of natural females is ignored. A person of color (minority as of now) has the "right" to a limited number of positions at a university or a company simply because of skin color, not total qualifications. People of color shoot each other at will in a community where no one will report for fear "snitches get stitches" but it's the white person's racism that causes the problem. A person shoots up 25, 40, 100 people and it's "work place violence" vs. terrorism because the head of our government empathizes with a cult of jihad. And it goes on. We won't even address those same politicians giving jobs, resources and other financial wherewithal -- from the taxpayers' pocket, by the way -- to countries who toil endlessly to crush us.
We cannot have a country when we have no borders, no laws protecting our inalienable rights, no celebration of our forefathers' culture or religion, no standards of behavior, no means of addressing those whose doctrines call for killing the infidel or taxing them into oblivion. My, my, my. Haven't we come a long way since 1776? Yeah, the cake incident might have been three years ago, but there is no evidence this couple have stopped being a-holes.
This poor lesbian couple spend SO MUCH TIME making sure they have their contact information out there for people to leave them threatening, anonymous messages.....
Did they not deny a service based on a personal belief regarding homosexuality???
Not exactly... Bruce decided not to produce his service because of his beliefs about transsexuals, not homosexuality. Obviously, that was tongue in cheek, but he knew he could get away with it because nobody on the other side of his beliefs would sue. If that were to happen, one of two things would probably happen. Either people would see what a rat hole this sort of thing was and stop going down it or it would further erode society. My bet would be on the latter. On second thought, since the lesbians searched for a baker that would not bake them a cake, maybe a baker that is willing to bake a wedding cake for lesbians should have sued for discrimination!
Not being an expert on this I would assume that transgender was by definition homosexual. Unless of course they never had sex and never intended to have sex.
Well, I guess if you were a male (who was emotionally attracted to females) and woke up and decided to identify as a female, and you still were emotionally attracted to females, you would be a 'lesbian', but then if you, after deciding you felt like a woman, that you were now emotionally attracted males, you would be heterosexual.
It really all depends on how you feel that day. How liberating not to be constrained by dull old reality! I was informed earlier last week that there are now 32 categories of "gender" humans might select, plus we around them must learn the appropriate pronouns to go with each. Back to school!
At this point---with the Muslim Brotherhood in the White House, the US elite supporting Shari'a compliance, a full-blown terror war breaking out in the US, and at least three Supreme Court justices in play--- any so-called Conservative who doesn't vote for Trump is a vile moron and deserves eternal damnation.
(dump trump)...."The insults, the transparent lies, the racist taunting and bullying, the demagoguery, the narcissistic self-obsession.. "--This describes the current President more than the next.--

For an intelligent guy, he says some foolish things. His coastal elitism is shining through again. Clearly, the man hates Trump because his is not of the cognoscenti. It would be difficult to complain based on proposed policy - there hasn't been much; aside from off-the-cuff rabble rousing. From an economist's perspective, Trump is a bit of a disaster, but I have hope. I believe that, as he formalizes his policies, he will get the advice of non-establishment advisors who will give him good advice rather than conventional (and failed) opinion masquerading as wisdom. Will he be a good President? I have no idea. Will he be better than Hillary - I have no doubt. I think we're getting close to WWIII and with Hillary in charge, I believe that we're screwed. That creature has never seen an armed conflict she didn't like. |
