We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The Great Reset: “Weren’t we all supposed to have highly paid, self-actualizing, hi-tech jobs or service jobs by now and simultaneously cultivating our inner artiste?
Yes Globalism is a driver among several others. We traded good jobs for cheap goods and then technology caught up with us.
This isn't a conspiracy by the globalists. You are below their radar and aren't a factor in their agenda. Although, some are quite convinced that the little people are the great beneficiaries, albeit indirect, and, of course, there is always trickle down.
Re: Young Male Sprinter Wins All-State Honors in Women’s Track and Field
This isn't actually the beginning, but one would hope that this would shine a light on this transgender lunacy. But then, since it's just getting started, there's no telling how far down this rabbit hole we'll end up going before we collectively realize how destabilizing this idea is - it's all about 2 + 2 = 5.
A quote from the story: "...I happen to believe we have been in a recession or even a depression for the past eight years."
Well of course we have been. The long food lines of the great depression are gone replaced by the EBT card. Have you ever noticed at your local supermarket that on the last couple of days of the month it is empty and no lines at the checkout? But on the first few days of the month the parking lots are full, the store is full of customers with 2 and 3 children per cart. There are the long lines we know are associated with a great depression. 102 million adults not working. Every economic indicator (except stocks) are pointing the wrong way. The only reason stocks are looking good is because of trillions being pumped into the market by the Fed. What happens when the music stops? Can we continue borrowing and printing money forever? IMHO the politicians don't care and now the only goal of the Fed is to keep this faux economy propped up until after the election. But however it happens and whenever it happens sooner or later this economic game of musical chairs is going to end and it will end badly.
Agree completely. If we weren't in a depression, real interest rates wouldn't be close to zero percent.
The main thing we have noticed recently is the substantial numbers of people who have just stopped working, for whatever reason. We continue to get the rosy economic figures here about how low unemployment is, etc., but the fact is the streets are substantially more empty during rush hour than they used to be. If you deal with businesses or the government, everyone will tell you "we are short-staffed," but there's no discussion about hiring anyone.
The other eye-opening change is the number of "homeless" now, just thousands and thousands of them in our city. How many are there really because of not being able to get a job is unclear, but they are literally overwhelming our city's ability to deal with them. (I suspect a substantial number are actually brain-damaged from drugs, otherwise mentally ill or have now just been trained by our government to be shirkers and deadbeats, but it is a huge problem and put us on the front page of the New York Times magazine just a couple of days ago for having the worst homeless situation in the country.)
I still maintain that Hillary's email setup was probably intended to keep her communications away from Rahm Emmanuel and others in the Obama administration than the press. Her appointment as Sec of State smacks of a "keep your enemies closer" move on both sides.

Quite likely, at least as a secondary objective. They would have wanted in on the graft.
re This great divide that has opened up between the ruling classes and the people is largely the result of globalism.
No. That's not true.
All one has to do is look at places like NYC and the State of California, two places where the middle class is being driven to extinction due to government policy, rules, regulations, taxes and spending.
The problem is right here at home with our ruling masters. They would like you to think it is globalism and that they are not to blame.
