We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The anointed and/or self-anointed political/intellectual elites have been getting a come-uppance lately. That is all for the good because our moral and intellectual superiors of both political parties have not done a very good job when they gain access to power. Enjoying power, they begin to apply their talents to keeping it and expanding it. Furthermore, these elites often ignore common sense.
I don't know what "the people" is. I'm sick of them because of their contempt for the constitution; for the individual. I don't know if "the people" feel the same way. Some do, but it may be the only true minority.
If you believe that the government and our politicians are acting or should be acting as the founding fathers intended Then you are doomed to disappointment. Somewhere between WWII and the 1970's it all changed. Our American experiment has been taken over by activists and hucksters intent on seizing power and wealth by any means possible. They did this while most Americans failed to pay attention and/or were complicit in the takeover. I believe that nothing short of a revolution will save us. It doesn't have to be a particularly violent revolution but it must be a genuine revolution and violence isn't ruled out. Otherwise I would suggest learning Chinese.
