We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
If Mom "tells" the seedlings the temperature before it sprouts, why then do "scientists" believe it necessary to "adapt those populations to the environment we expect to be here 10, 20 years down the road." Why do we assume we can do better than God and nature equipped the plants to do?
Plants complete fascinate me. All those details covered in the cited articles give researchers involved in controlled growing environments, such as greenhouses in the middle of the desert, an amazing opportunity to provide food stuffs and materials in places where few plants have grown successfully, not to mention at an appropriate cost.
