Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I will break the Apple phone for the FBI for $1 million. There are two major hurdles to accessing the data and the software. The first is getting around the hardware roadblocks. Luckily this is much easier to do if you have access to multiple iphones. That is you acquire a couple of identical iphones to work with and potentially make mistakes with. Also it is unlikely that there are any significant roadblocks on the phone simply because these tend to be too tricky and prone to cause problems and therefore aren't used in commercial hardware. So bypass any problems and download the memory chip(s). Second problem is to separate the software from the data AND to interpret the software. It is in machine language and typically too large a program for the human mind to comprehend. So you write a program to interpret it, map it, create flow charts from it and identify what is the program and what is the data. Again this is made easier by the access to other identical iphones where you can control what is on the phone and thus make it easier to map the memory. This is a trial and error process requiring many changes to the program you use to interpret the Apple operating system. Programmers hate machine language and it is simply not typical that programs and especially operating systems are written using machine language so it is both foreign and to them and obtuse (for good reason). So this is the tough part but it can be done. Eventually you would have two products; 1, all of the data, 2 the operating system (and a full understanding of the operating system sufficient to disable features and add capability to it).
What you still have to solve it the encryption problem. IT becomes incredibly easier at this point but still a tough nut to crack. BUT most people pick something they can remember and something that is meaningful to them. I would start with a encryption cracking program that used the quran as a source for keys and run the process on multiple computers. No guarantees but a decent chance you can find the key. I don't want to candy coat this part of the problem it may turn out to be uncrackable but it may not too. But no matter much of the important data will not be encrypted so at this point the job is done hand me the $1 million check. Bird Dog: the only real racisms are hoax racism and reverse racism
Seriously? Don't you think you are overstating somewhat? Bird Dog is right. I've never seen any racism in my life except for that coming from "people of color." It's gotten much worse now they control the national agenda through the Obama administration.
There's no racism directed towards blacks in America. Never happened. Never will.
http://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/charleston-south-carolina-church-shooting/ Was this:
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-kansas-shooting-idUSKCN0VZ15K also racism? Or is this kind of thing simply an evil person or an insane person? If they did it while quoting the bible would you call it religion? Is "black lives matter" racism? Is claiming that little Travon Martin had a right to beat poor George Zimmerman senseless and for George to shoot him in self defense was because he was a racist, a racist point of view? Is claiming that the gentle giant Micheal Brown was shot while he had his hands up racist? What, exactly, is racist? Is having to write what race you are on a government form, racist? Is everything racist? GoneWithTheWind: Or is this kind of thing simply an evil person or an insane person?
The Charleston shootings were obviously racism. The victims were targeted because they were black. GoneWithTheWind: Is "black lives matter" racism? Are you suggesting black lives don't matter?

Without spending a lot of time studying that young man's life and past acts I truly do not know if he was racist and neither do you. I suspect he is not all there and because of the news trends and commentary decided he needed to take action. This is no different from the thousands and perhaps tens of thousands of incidents where someone who is mentally challenged commits a crime because of some crazy interpretation of events or reporting of events. Was he really racist or simply crazy like so many other criminals?
Are you suggesting that the BLM crowd who beat up and have even killed white people (by your definition that is racist) are not themselves racist criminals? Just saying "black lives matter" is intentionally and unnecessarily racially provocative. These BLM people are neo-apartheidists espousing racist violence.

Dylann Roof (in writing): “N**gers are stupid and violent. At the same time they have the capacity to be very slick,” he wrote. “Black people view everything through a racial lense [sic]... I wish with a passion that n**gers were treated terribly throughout history by Whites" Roof used "uttered a racially inflammatory statement" after the shooting. There's little doubt he will be convicted of a hate crime. GoneWithTheWind: Are you suggesting that the BLM crowd who beat up and have even killed white people (by your definition that is racist) are not themselves racist criminals? Killing someone because of their race is racist by definition, and a hate-crime. Do you have a citation to such an event?

Black people are stupid and violent. Do you deny the obvious. I wish it weren’t true but the facts are the facts. Black people do see everything through a racial lens. To believe otherwise would imply you don’t know many black people. But I’ll stand by my original point which is I am simply not sure he is a racist. He makes racist statements and certainly committed a hate crime but I suspect he is crazy and like the actions of so many crazy people it is just inexplicable.
To be honest with you I tend to believe that one someone asks for a citation they are simply trying to change the subject. You could not possibly be so uninformed that you are unaware of the numerous cases of violence in the name of the BLM crowd including a half dozen or more police killed. So do your homework and don’t ask me to do it.

Bird Dog: the only real racisms are hoax racism and reverse racism
Jim: I've never seen any racism in my life except for that coming from "people of color." GoneWithTheWind: Black people are stupid and violent. Does that answer your question? QUOTE: Polls Show Most Muslims Reject Both Extremism and Islamic Reform Reform doesn't have a good track record in most of the Muslim world over the last few years. But that's the conundrum that has to be solved. Without reform, extremism will proliferate, but conservatism often entails fear of modernity with all it entails. QUOTE: U.S., Europe Fund Torture by Palestinian Authority Off-shoring the work of torture. Re: Trump Tax Documents
From the linked article: QUOTE: Steven Golburd, an attorney specializing in tax law, told the Washington Post Friday it may indeed be in Trump's best interest to keep them private. "Think of an audit as an investigation, an on-going investigation," Goldburd said. "Any person that has legal counsel, their legal counsel will say, 'If you're under investigation, you should not be talking to the media, you should not be talking to anyone other than your legal counsel or through your legal counsel.'" I do not like Trump, and hate appearing to defend him, but this appears to be a textbook example of how the press treats the candidates that they disfavor: Candidate Statement: "I can't do it until the audit is finished, obviously. And I think people would understand that." Unwarranted assumption: Law/government agency policy prohibits you from releasing your own tax returns if you are under audit. Analysis of that assumption: FALSE Building of straw-man: Trump claimed that (the IRS/Tax-law/"the government") is prohibiting him from releasing his tax documents, but there is no such policy Conclusion Agency contradicts Trump, Trump lied!!!!!!! Very annoyed that the line from the IRS says nothing is keeping Trump from releasing his tax record...know why? Read some more. Tax lawyers everywhere recommended you say NOTHING about your taxes or tax filings while going through an audit. Please mention that.
Trump is not doing anything underhanded by not releasing his tax records. He is doing what any normal person would do. I also think that Romney brought this up specifically because he knew Trump was being audited and wanted to discredit him and create doubt. The RNC will do anything to stop Trump. Don't be fooled by these Harry Reid tactics. Romney didn't release his tax records until he was the nominee...in September of 2012. Don't let this be a distraction. Don't fall for the lies that Trump is 'hiding something.' He is doing what any normal person would do. He's been audited for the last 12 years. You think if he knew he had 'secrets' he would reveal this fact? You think that if he knew he'd been in trouble with the IRS and had to refile for the last 12 years, he'd be defending his taxes right now? Hospital jobs.
Thank goodness McArdle is addressing this. You can see the similarity by noticing the commercials that are promoting nursing as a noble calling that are similar to those for the teaching profession (if you can read, thank a teacher). Memes on facebook showing nurses as heroic are popular. I come from a family with a lot of nurses, my mother was one, my sister, sister in laws, nieces. I do have respect for them and trust their opinions on health issues, but they are not better people than I am. I have helped individual people using my own money and time, but it is not my day job. You cannot pay people to care. Everyone that gets up and goes to work deserves credit for what they contribute to the standard of living we enjoy. A day without modern plumbing would make a hospital stay a lot different. The cat cafe article far surpasses the article written by the guy lamenting the emotional state of trees in urban settings for sheer volume of patheticness.
People paying to eat lunch with stray cats. Restaurants not able to operate without outright bribery to their masters. Let's pretend this is about safety and hygiene-- buy your lunch, go out the door and return. Good grief. Men must be governed by God, or they will be ruled by tyrants. William Penn. Perfect example, there. Kenyan FM: Most African Countries “See Israel as a Very Close Friend”
