Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

In the "Stupid Party Collapse" essay above, the comment section is interesting.
excerpt: "...The great thing about Trump Ms. Barnhardt’s axiom not withstanding, is he is the great fuck you no matter what, Trump is a win win no matter what. When he is elected and he ends up like the axiom portends, or he somehow fails in his bid, or they put a bullet through his head, and it doesn’t matter what becomes of Trump, it all begins to really dawn on enough people, and they become sorely disenchanted by the outcome in any of the possible eventualities, that mass of tolerance out there comes to a fucking screeching halt, that’s when the party really starts. Trump signifies the end of an age of America no matter what. Hard to say what the next epoch is like." The political divide in our country has long grown deeper and wider. Now it's being armed, positions hardened and fortified. 2016 will likely be verrrry interesting and 2017 could be a real riot. Not for profit college inspector. Boy, sure wish they had an "inspector" when DH was teaching at a private "very liberal" college. I was there to pick up DH for a quick lunch one day when the academic dean brought a street person into DH's office. She was mid 30's--disheveled and not very lucid. The academic dean told my husband to sign her up. The gal sat there and asked, "where am I? Am I in some kind of school or something?" Then she laughed "wow you mean I'm in a college?". DH ran the master's program. So he graciously escorted her to the office next door--the Bachelor Completion Program, which was run by a Jewish Lesbian. The BA completion program took her in and the academic dean said, "we need the money--she's good for $40,000 (Federal student loans)". Oh well--"just because they're liberal doesn't mean they're honest"
I've noticed that the people who gripe the most about for-profit schools are those who work for "non-profit" schools. Maybe it makes them feel less guilty.
I don't see much difference between the two, and I suspect that the higher for-profit default rate is simply a matter of a higher average socio-economic status of the students going into non-profit schools (ie Mommy/Daddy pays off debt for them while for-profit students are on their own). --Winter Outlook Update: January - March 2016 to Feel Influence of Strong El Niño---
The Force Awakens... The Cruzade video is great. I love the RINOs in front of the Capitol.
The Syrian refugee crisis will spawn a terrorist crisis in Europe and the U.S. It may take 1000's of deaths and 100's of terrorists attacks but eventually even many on the left will come to agree that immigration of muslims must end or at the very least a moratorium must be imposed. It will be interesting to see how those who now call Trump a fascist for this belief will rationalize their conversion.
I agree with you on this. ISIS and Islamic terrorism is not going away by just ignoring it or trying to be more 'accepting' of Muslims. Eventually, that will become clear at the cost of many innocent lives.
We apparently need more than a Pearl Harbor or a 9/11 to truly change how we perceive the world and America in general. Did anyone read the Breitbart article about how Muslim opinions in a Frank Lutz focus group were edited in order to make the Muslims seem more sympathetic?? It is apparent that the press and the left are trying very hard to convince us that Muslims come here because they want to be part of America. According to the people in the focus group, that is not the case. There are very few 'moderate' Muslims. These focus group people are more likely closer to the norm than an anomaly. http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2015/12/21/report-cbs-news-frank-luntz-cut-muslim-americans-u-s-criticism-from-focus-group/ That is one of the reasons why this threat is under appreciated by the public. The media hides the facts and simply doesn't report others. Shortly after the San Bernardino attack it leaked out that there were indeed numerous other terrorist attacks that were misreported or under reported. The under reporting of criminal activity by illegal aliens in this country is common as well.
Even the legal immigration by our government of Syrians and others from 3rd world countries takes place in secret. We are not allowed to know how many, when it happens or where they are placed. The UN knows more about immigration into the U.S. than the U.S. citizens do. Re "The Stupid Party."
Emperor Ovaltine is at the point where he is insulting whole swaths of once-Democrat voters, folks whom the Democrats used to call "working families": --Demographic changes and economic stresses, including “flatlining” wages and incomes, have meant that “particularly blue-collar men have had a lot of trouble in this new economy, where they are no longer getting the same bargain that they got when they were going to a factory and able to support their families on a single paycheck,” Mr. Obama said in the interview with National Public Radio.-- http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/22/us/politics/president-obama-accuses-donald-trump-of-exploiting-working-class-fears.html So now it is blue collar workers' fault that the economy is the worst it has been since the Great Depression, and they had a "bargain" when they had jobs. Especially since the cratering is entirely due to what Ovaltine and the Democrat Party have done in driving our economy into the gutter since 2007. And the flooding of the job market with illegals and part-time workers mandated by Obamacare. I find the fact The Stupid Party cannot capitalize on the stuff this moron says is amazing. At least Trump has some sanity. Only have a minor in Physics, but here's what I know about cosmological theory. General Relativity works great for explaining things on big scales, like galaxies, baseballs, and even grains of sand or droplets of water. Quantum theory works great for tiny things like individual electrons and atoms. This is based on the general assumption that big, heavy things have lots of energy, and tiny things only have little bits of energy. The problems arise when you look at tiny things with a lot of energy, say rapidly moving sub-atomic particles, or big things with very little energy, like big lumps of matter at extremely low temperatures, liquid helium, for instance.
Trying to explain these things with the two theories produces answers that are not only in disagreement, but often non-sensical, like having negative volumes, or event probabilities greater than 100%. On a smaller scale, the Standard model physics is great at describing how particles interact, but does not predict many of the fundamental properties of the particles themselves (mass and charge of an electron, for instance). To get around this, physicists replace the nonsense predicted values with values measured from experiment, and everything works out great. String theory (now supplanted by M-theory) can be used to predict some of these values, provided that the physicists select particular combinations of the geometry of the multi-dimensional space that makes up the universe. At first there was rejoicing when it was proven that there was a countably-finite number or these geometries that could result in a universe. However, as the calculations were performed in more detail, it was discovered that even though it is finite, the number of possible combinations is greater than the number of electrons that could be stuffed into all of known space, and there is no reason to believe that ours is somehow preferred.. The Standard Model guys largely consider choosing values that result in a universe that looks like ours to be the equivalent of their renormalization process. QUOTE: What’s Really Going On With the Earth’s Climate The article conflates ECS (equilibrium climate sensitivity) with TCR (transient climate response). TCR refers to the immediate effects due to changes in greenhouse gases. However, it takes time for the hydrosphere and cryosphere to stabilize, or ECS. TCR is estimate to be about 1-2°C, while ECS is estimated to be about 2-4°C. Texan99: More word salad.
Energy moves chaotically between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and cryosphere. When perturbed, it takes time for the climate system to reestablish equilibrium. In any case, the claim concerns the reliability of models. Whether you agree with the models or not, the models do make a distinction between ECS and TCR, hence you have to compare current temperatures to the expected TCR, not the expected ECS. Climate is the interplay between Field Aligned Currents in the ionosphere and Induction Currents charging Earth’s core. Climate change is driven by a transformer effect between plasma ring currents coupled to solar winds, which induce telluric currents in upper mantle structures grounded to the core. This transformer effect is strongest at the south-pole where the polar plasma jet is more strongly coupled to an upper mantle ridge structure encircling Antarctica. This effect exerts climate control over the planet via aligned tectonic vortex structures along the Western Pacific rim, electrically connected to the core. This is consistent with the “Earth Endogenous Energy” theory (Gregori, 2002 – Earth as a rechargeable battery/capacitor). Intense solar outbursts result in intense plasma impinging upon Earth, creating a modulating effect to atmospheric pressure, global Jet Stream patterns, global warming and cooling cycles. These changes are directly linked to charging and discharging phases of the Earth and result in fluctuations of Earth’s magnetic field cycles in rhythm with the climate.

To cite any of this inevitable warming as caused by man is pseudo-science or scientific malpractice. What bothers the warmies is that most thinking people understand this and consequently understand that the warmies are lying. All that is left than is to understand why? Most of the people on the AGW bandwagon either get their livelihood from the AGW scam OR they expect to benefit from subsidies and regulations as a result of the AGW scam. Most of the politicians backing it are socialist/leftists (sorry for the redundancy) or uninformed or unwilling to buck the political correctness. In fact this is the largest scam ever in human history with the potential of the largest payoff ever and those who are invested in it will do whatever they can to ride this AGW scam to wealth and power. If we, the people, fail to educate ourselves and learn more about this scam we will see our wealth depleted by our government and our futures at risk.
re climate change/AGW/whatever the new buzz word is these days. For humans--warmer is better, period!
