Suddenly there were warning labels on everything. Back then, TV comedians were panning this non-stop IIRC. Especially ladders. The comedians are all dead or retired now, but the labels live on. The bureaucracy outlasted them.

Women in combat:

It should be obvious to everyone that women do not belong in combat. What is perhaps less obvious is that they will get other soldiers killed. Part of this is simply that someone else will have to pick up the slack when the women fall short but some of it is the inevitable result of a culture that values women and will cause men to act contrary to common sense and military rules to protect them. Putting women into combat is worse than putting them in the NFL as line backers. They cannot do the job, they will get hurt and will cause others to get hurt.

The other half of this equation is not often discussed. That is every soldier, marine, sailor and airman is combat eligible and when under fire everyone in uniform will be placed into combat. There will not be a lawyer or your mother there to decide who fights and who does not. It only makes sense that everyone in uniform is eligible, trained and capable to go into combat on a moments notice. For that reason I believe we should reverse the trend of women in the military and limit them to medical service only. Not cooks, not admin, not mechanic or truck drive; medical only. The military would be stronger and our country would be safer. This PC effort to put women into the military was always a mistake and should be corrected now.

Rather than tweak the rules of promotion, a more sensible approach, the military is placing women where they don’t belong and risking military effectiveness.

Changing promotion rules so than combat units or armies would be lead by women who were never in serious combat would be catastrophically stupid. That is inevitable.

It's still amazing to me that so many people can be so confused by the obvious. The threat to the Western world by Islamists has been going on almost since Mohammed died but people keep thinking that this time it's different.

They are like cows who think it's a new day every time they blink.

Which reminds me of being in downtown Boston in the early 1990s and seeing a crowd of people wearing traditional Guatemalan clothing. What is going on, I thought to myself. Then I saw a notice in the paper: Grateful Dead in town for a concert. Deadheads, that's what it was.

My kid was watching videos of some backyard foxes.
Either rehabbed or for whatever reason and they are cute and make really cute noises, but really?

There aren't enough stupid people who don't know how to train and/or care for dogs that end up biting people ?
There aren't enough people who have chimps/tigers/large reptiles that end up killing, maiming or eating a person or attacking a child and always profess: "I had no idea, the animal NEVER acted aggressively".

Most people are clueless about body language, and what you are saying with your own.

besides, foxes LOVE TO eat cats.

EMORY (and MISSOURI and OTHER COLLEGES CAPITULATING to the DEMANDS of SPOILED ROTTEN BRATS):

Rather than demanding that students meet what were once lofty graduation requirements, the majority of our universities - enticed by federal subsidies - have capitulated to the demands of students. Unfortunately, these demands are not for better education or skills that will make them better or more productive citizens or enable them to lead an examined life, but rather for more coddling.

Education entails a change in the person. However, rather than recognize that it is the student who is at the university in order to change (hopefully for the better), the "children" are demanding (and the universities agreeing) that it is the universities that must change. Why are the kiddies there in the first place if they already know everything?

The whole notion of professor ratings is absurd. First, as noted above, it is the student who is being molded, not the teacher. If the teacher is bad, it is the job of his peers to fix it, Second, the more valuable life lesson of schooling is NOT the memorization of facts, etc., but learning how to deal with adversity and to persist. If each of your teachers behaves according to your expectations and holds your same views and knowledge, you're wasting your time in his class.

Federal quotas, mandates and subsidies have changed the goal of our universities from educating students to appeasing students in order to cash in on this bonanza.

I recognize that many of you have sentimental attachments to your alma mater, but your alma mater ain't what it used to be. In most cases, it has become a cesspool of Marxist indoctrination and hinders the stymies the development of its students. Too many alums are reluctant to take off the blinders and admit what is obvious. Instead, they HOPE that either things aren't that bad at "their" university or that things will CHANGE. Haven't you learned that hope and change isn't a strategy?

Find out what colleges stick to their principles and send your donations there. It's more important to support the ideals and ideas in which you believe than a geographic site that opposes those things which you support. Let your money do the talking. Tell your former college that you oppose what they are doing and that you will be sending your support elsewhere.

I never got into the alma mater thing. I grew up there, lived at home while going to classes, never cared about sports. And now they've gone nuts.
