Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Sierra Club: Thousands Of Economic Changes Needed To Fight 'Climate Change'"
It is just possible that this sort of thing might prove the great undoing of climate zealotry. People seem poorly disposed to sacrifice much for real challenges (we're hardly on a war footing over Islamist violence) so I doubt we'll give up our SUVs and our general standard of living for a fantasy ones. Hillary
Folks, the fix is in. It has been thus for a long time now. Just like we dissed Obama in '08, "haw haw, that clown couldn't win a dogcatcher's job", or: when Former President Bill Clinton tried to get former senator Ted Kennedy to endorse Hillary Clinton for president in the 2008 election by describing Barack Obama this way: "A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags." That's when it became obvious to all and sundry that the fix started here. After four years it was hard to ignore the damage being done. One would think that cooler heads would prevail: "aw, uh uh. This guy (Obama) is a rolling idiot. he'll never get re-elected. Right? " Keep in mind that Alinsky's acolytes and other commies formed an uneasy partnership with Chicago pols. Read: Mob. Sam "Momo" Giancana and his outfit go back to the grassy knoll, back to Bobby: Senator Robert Kennedy is shot at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles after winning the California presidential primary. Immediately after he announced to his cheering supporters that the country was ready to end its fractious divisions, Kennedy was shot several times by the 22-year-old Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan. No, this is not the tinfoil hat talking; facts speak louder than words. This bolsters my prediction, that Hillary will be our next president. The deal has been cooking for years. Never mind Trump or Dr. Ben Carson or anyone else. Never mind challenging the count; we get enough illegal Democrats coming in every day. First stop the Welfare office, second the voters' registration booth where instructions are carefully laid out in Spanish. For those too dumb to follow even those simple instructions a Fisher-Price polling booth will be used. "No, no, Jose, the red block into the red hole, see it?" The Repubs will do as they have been doing, set up some shmo, or someone they don't like to take the fall. That's all I got with only two cups of coffee in me. . Unfortunately, after the last 2 "elections," I think you are correct.
Refugee winter predicted response: "But we never claimed it would be monotonic!"
re University of Missouri mob rule
I think the lesson here is that any university employee can now lose his job if an aggrieved victims class can gin up enough outrage against them. If some adults don't stand up to the temper tantrums from the perpetually offended all, useful academic learning could be lost, as incompetents favored by the mob replace the competent. I am reluctant to say this, but this type of behavior may make the model of closing campuses and teaching everyone online much more desirable, at least from the perspective of the targets. Meanwhile black on white crime ignored at U of M.
http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2015/11/09/mizzou-prez-resigns-amid-racial-unrest-and-racial-crimes/?singlepage=true It's not just black on white, but black on any is marginalized, even black on black. In order to curry favor, the left has given blacks a pass on all sorts of socially and self destructive behavior and they're doing it again with Mexicans (see sanctuary cities). What I don't think the left realizes is that in the short term, whites will be eaten. In the long term, they will also be eaten.
From American Thinker: White Racism at Mizzou and Berkeley: Racial Hoaxes of the Week
A mediocre team of subliterate football players is now running the University of Missouri. Maybe no one will notice the difference. The takeover occurred over the last week, when members of the sub .500 football team joined black activists in demanding the university president resign. They insisted there was lots and lots of white racism on the campus -- and the president’s white privilege made him blind to see it -- or do anything about it. Lots of white students joined in, admitting they too were guilty of white racism. And because they could not quite figure out what it was, it had to be subconscious. So the president had to go. And he did, leaving behind a plea for “more diversity.” The real story on and around the Mizzou campus is just the opposite of the fairy tale these Black Lives Matter wannabes would have us believe: Crime and violence in Columbia, Missouri is a big problem -- and it’s a black thing. http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/11/white_racism_at_mizzou_and_berkeley_racial_hoaxes_of_the_week.html Having watched this kind behavior (U of M President resigns) for years now, I can only say "duh"--what did you expect? When you let one group of people organized and use force--women's organizations. Then it stands to follow that the next deprived (depraved) group down the ladder will learn the techniques and expect/demand the same acquiescent behavior from this in charge, i.e. their demands are met.
This white guy disgusts me because--he probably never, ever stood up in defense of one of his white straight male faculty! Noo. . . he cruised along keeping his head down ala Bulldog. Hey you straight white guys out there--do you not yet understand you are the only unorganized category of people in this country? Therefore--you loose! Simple as that. Now, let's take a look at how the president's of universities are selected shall we? Oh no--you say the best rises to the top like cream--are you out of your minds? The most docile, the most obedient get the job. The people who choose presidents live in Seattle and Chicago and Arizona--that old mob link still runs much of this country--this guy got run out not because of academic issues, but because the football team squatted down in the middle of the season. You don't think it had anything to do with money do you? Sheesh. My suggestion to all you business owners out there--make sure that no one with a degree from U of Missouri get put in the potential hires pile of candidates. Let Missouri go the way South Africa has gone--totally corrupt--totally useless. Whites totally outnumbered might have something to do with the problem too! The president of University of Missouri resigned, what an incredibly stupid move. Where was his guts, his common sense, his awareness of what was happening? He has cost his state and the citizens billions in future wasted tax dollars and diluted the higher education system for ever. The goal was to replace brains and brightness with quotas and racism at the university. He simply gave up. Whatever reputation Mizzou had in the past will now take a downhill trajectory.
What the president should have done was to let the football team miss that important game and then fire the coach and take back the football scholarships of the players who refused to play. On campus he should have laid down the law and reminded students that lawlessness wouldn't be allowed and than follow through. Not with sweeping military style roundups but simply use available video to identify anyone breaking the law and sign a complaint and where appropriate expel them from the school. I think it may be too late. My advice to the good citizens of Missouri is to force the education system to get back to actual education and throw out the hate studies programs. If the politicians won't cooperate than use the ballot box. It may even be necessary to defund the school first before anyone will take them serious. Close it down, fire the staff, send the students packing. Either it is your university or it belongs to the rabble. If the rabble takes it from you than make them pay for it not the taxpayers. Bolivia Climate Proposal:
My first reaction was to chuckle; but, on reflection, with the direction the world seems to be heading, this could actually happen. I was an undergraduate student in the early 1960s and remember the student demonstrations and the administration cave ins to the student demands. We joked that there was nothing more craven and cowardly than a college president. My opinion hasn't changed.
Re: UVa Fraternity Falsely Accused of Rape Sues Rolling Stone for $25 Million
It's unfortunate that the fraternity (or individuals in the fraternity) are unlikely to collect anywhere near the $25M. I was hoping that Rolling Stone would have to pay much more - as in going out of business more. |
