I don't think Obamacare has failed at all. It's done exactly as planned and chipped off another 6 or 7 million people who are receiving free or mostly free health insurance and will now faithfully vote Democrat to keep it in place. They never cared about the uninsured or high medical prices, they cared about another voter segment.
The Dems win election by appealing to small groups, a million votes here, 5 million there and the next thing you know you've got 50 million faithful voters. Fundamental black Christians want nothing to do with the LGBT lobby but they both vote for Dems.

That is the magic behind the Democrat party. They divide us into groups with intrusive and devisive laws and regulations and then they offer each group/tribe 'free stuff as an incentive to vote Democrat. Isn't is ironic that the party that created the KKK and completely controlled the old South now gets 95% of the black vote. While at the same time the stupid party who fought hard for equal rights and equal opportunity is openly and falsely charged with being racist.

The problem for the stupid party as I see it is they are made up of individuals, many with high ideals and a constitutional belief system who merely belong to the same party. Where as the Democrats are an oligarchy where every elected Democrat is read the party line when they are elected and if they stray from that party line they are ostracized and pushed out. The Democrats have an agenda and they are constantly working their agenda. The right has a love of the constitution and are too naive to understand that the left does not.

I'm so glad obamacare failed.

We can no longer get 'employer' insurance, we have to get individual ( we are self employed and not big enough to be considered a group) our premium doubled, we are restricted to where we can go, and they keep pushing us to fill out those DNR forms.

So 'Treason', which at one time was considered the worst crime possible worthy of centuries of disdain; is now what a misdemeanor? While fishermen are now jailed for catching fish.

Not fixing this at the ballot box.

Biofuels revived the farms around here. Everybody has new tractors and combines, and some forests separating old fields have been levelled for more acerage.

There ought to be a collapse if ethanol ever ends.

New tools around here too. New gasoline powered chain saws and hedge trimmers, gasoline mowers that now MUST be in the shop for work every year.

And as I've stated before, why does a '10% fuel additive' decrease my mileage by 25%? Are they sure that sh*t will burn?

And worst of all, I'm paying for this at both ends.

No, unfortunately.

Once I traveled outside of my state and apparently fueled up where 'pure' gas was being sold. My mileage immediately shot back up to the 27mpg I used to get before the introduction of 10% ethanol in my area.
Came home, lost it again. Back to 20mpg.

Same happened here when fracking was allowed.

Now that it's overly regulated, the drillers moved out, the market is glutted with cheap natural gas, the areas are in Worse shape because their tax base increased and then dropped. They spent money they didn't have in anticipation that everything was going to remain the same.

Granted in this case it is from a silly source, but the fundamental difference between the right and the left is much easier to understand if you recognize the right is based on agrarian philosophy and the left is working from a hunter/gatherer/nomadic philosophy.

That's because you are agrarian in nature. You favor farms and towns and fenced in gardens and controlling your own destiny by enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Hunter gatherers don't recognize personal property, the whole world is their garden, your destiny is determined largely by what they are fortunate enough to find.

Ones destiny is self determined, the other is a matter of fortune. They aren't lazy, they are less fortunate.

I think it makes more sense to look at much of modern (post 1970) as a religion in search of a god, though they've definitively defined their devil. It has its saints, its prophets, its rituals, its sacred texts, its martyrs and its sacraments. It also has a dangerous compulsion toward its own theocracy.

It's philosophy is a sort of bizarre Manichaeism: They've defined evil to be the Western patriarchal, Judeo-Christian, industrial civilization. Thus anything that stands in opposition to evil must therefore be good. So genocide in the name of anything but Christianity or capitalism, while perhaps not desirable, is not at its heart evil.

Yes. I largely agree with the above comments and the Pope's remark is spot on.

And here is what utterly baffles my feeble mind.

These people enjoy the longest life spans, the cheapest and most abundant food and the most creature comforts in the history of the world.

Why would anyone want to tear all that down? And yet that's exactly what they want to do, in exchange for power.

It is what it is. I know.

Why? Self loathing.

They abandoned all objective standards in favor of doing whatever feels good. By itself, this is nothing new - the adolescent mind has always reacted thus to the received wisdom of previous generations. In their new, post-modern fairy tale you can simply skip all that dreary nonsense about standards and responsibility and consequences. In fact, you are entitled to peter-pan yourself and live a life of never-ending frolic. After all, if humanity had achieved so much though the life of the mind, why should she accept any limitations whatsoever?

Then, having surrendered themselves to their animal passions, their momentary instincts and their base appetites, they find that they are subconsciously repulsed by what they have become.

Hence the self-loathing – and the concomitant insatiable desire to tear down any vestige of traditional western civilization (both because it shines a light on their emptiness and depravity AND because, having brought them to this height of intellectual and technological achievement, it cannot be made to magic away the consequences of their choices). The conscience cannot be duped into accepting that walking erect and rooting about on all fours are coequal postures.

Which is why they have such an insatiable lust for power – when all the world is a mirror to the rottenness of their core, the natural reaction is to lash out and smash the mirror. Frustration at not being able to smash every mirror leads to a compulsion to constantly grasp after the next bigger hammer.
