Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

5 Things to Consider Before Venting your anger
Fine for personal relationships I guess but how do you have hot make-up sex if you don't fight? In public matters the whole problem is that we are choking down big steaming mouthfuls of the ordure of the political class and NO ONE is GETTING MAD! IMHO it's pitchforks and hot tar time. Polyamory Is Bad For Kids, Polyamorists, And Society I had to follow the link to find out what the word meant, so that's what they are calling it these days. A movie about Birmingham, Alabama. Would rather see a movie about Kansas or Iowa. Live near BHM. Been in and out of there for 60 years. It's only gotten worse.
"Why Hillary will likely win the white house"
The real answer why she will likely win is that the presidential election is decided in one of five states and within these states in one or two counties. Right now in all of these key counties Democrat operatives, unions, paid community organizers, and other left wing groups are already setting up to steal the vote. Groups are registering voters. Not all voters but carefully selected voters and illegal aliens who will vote Democrat. Other committees are searching the records for registered dead people and consistent none voters. They will vote in the next election thanks to the effort to prevent ID checks. Because there will be teams of drivers and shills who will round up the homeless and drunks and take them to the polls. Each of these "voters" will be provided with the information they need to go into the polling place and vote under someone else's name. Then the driver will take them to another polling place to vote again... and again... The dirty tricks are used in every election of any significance and that is how Democrats get elected. If there is an overwhelming number of actual, real voters who vote the opposite of expectation, Hillary and her operatives will not be able to 'find' enough additional votes. If actual, real democrat voters are not jazzed up enough to go to the polls (because Hillary is a bad candidate), Hillary and her operatives will not be able to 'find' enough votes.
Unions are starting to back Trump. If Trump gets the Republican nomination, don't be too sure on the unions helping Hillary. Also, don't be too sure on Obama helping Hillary either. He would be a lot happier in his post-presidency role if he got to be the 'savior' for a bunch of people while a Republican is in office. If you recall, Obama had fewer votes in 2012 than he did in 2008. Doesn't sound like he did a smashing job of finding 'dead' people and reams of voters the 2nd time around. Months ago I predicted that Hillary will be the Dem candidate and Jeb will be the Republican candidate. I still believe that. In the back rooms and with the help of the MSM Trump will be politically assassinated.
But even so, regardless of who runs, all Democrats will vote and will vote against whoever the Republican candidate is. In case you haven't noticed it is only the conservatives who refuse to hold their noses and vote for their party when their parties candidate sucks. The Dems would vote for the devil himself if he were running and the MSM would call anyone who used the word "devil" a racist. The Democrats know Hillary is a crook and a liar, it doesn't matter to them. Most of them only want someone in office to tax the rich and give "free stuff" to the poor/oppressed/LGBT/non-white/etc. Unless Hillary is actually in jail she will run and she will win and it will be done with voter fraud and a dedicated left wing party. Trump is brilliant. His comments on Bush and 9/11 not only forced Jeb to defend his brother, he just gave himself votes from the left. For all those democrats who disliked Bush, didn't like the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Trump just gave them all a reason to vote Republican (Trump) without supporting Bush.
If people think Trump is 'dumb' or 'crazy' they are the crazy ones. This guy is turning out to be more politically adept than I ever thought. Not dumb. Not crazy. Just unelectable.
His behavior as a businessman is enough to make it clear he intends to use the position to enrich himself and his friends. Crassus couldn't have done it any better than Trump is doing it. I 'like' Trump insofar as he's raised meaningful issues and forced candidates to speak about them. But he hasn't offered solutions except to bully his questioners, talk down to anyone who provides facts which oppose his views, and otherwise demean anyone and everyone he can while boasting of his power and negotiating skills. If I wanted a bully, I'd vote for Christie. He's at least nicer, and more effective, at being a political bully. Trump is just nasty and vicious. But even Christie is a disaster on the national stage. He's OK as my governor, but I'd never vote for him for president. I barely voted for him as governor. Our choices were that slim. Way off topic, but of interest:

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights, has requested the USDA investigate the America Egg Board and their alleged anti-competitive campaign involving Just Mayo eggless mayonnaise from Hampton Creek. The letter states that "The 600 pages of correspondence suggest that members of the AEB staff, USDA officials, and top executives from the egg industry engaged in a strategic, multifaceted campaign to use the power and resources of the federal government to undermine the economic prospects of Hampton Creek, based on their fear that the food start-up’s product, Just Mayo, represented a 'crisis' and a 'major threat' to the egg industry," according to a news release. In addition to the investigation request, Lee also called into question the need for the AEB, asking whether Congress should continue to authorize an organization that "[behaves] like state-sponsored cartels that intimidate and handicap their competition," the letter said. http://www.fooddive.com/news/battle-still-sizzling-senator-requests-american-egg-board-investigation/407699/ No word yet if the AEB and/or USDA should be trusted on other matters. I've been looking at a lot of modern public statuary lately. It must be in the building codes here in Korea.
What public purpose do these pieces serve? Where is the civic enhancement, the moral uplift, the inspiration? The answer is that these are just a backroom subsidy to certain subgroups of the public. I'll grant that some are humorous but the wit gets stale too soon and become trite. I guess we should be thankful that builders are not compelled to erect public statues of serving presidents or senators. |
