Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I can't help but read the "sexual assault"in the military without thinking, is the definition the same as on college campuses?

where looking at a girl, or sleeping with a girl and she regrets it and cries rape the next day when you don't call her back is part of the definition?

I would hope the military has at least some semblance of sanity, but I'm sure they are working nonstop to kill even that.

I pity the poor male Marines who were in those units. The article has a photo of a female Marine with an 81 mm mortar. Think she carried that thing - 91 lbs all together - or the ammo out to the field?

I wonder if 7 Marines just got fed up with carrying other people's load as well as their own and snapped.

It's funny - I recently queried someone regarding climate change and the current approach. I asked why, if we can put a man on the moon, we don't look for ways to work with climate change rather than against it. I likened it to the constant pushing of a rock up a hill. Crickets.

The climate is constantly changing. What we are seeing is "normal" and in fact pretty moderate by any historical standard. We didn't cause it to change and we cannot prevent it from changing. The real goal of the warmies is to enrich themselves at the public trough AND perhaps even more importantly to change the predominant economic system of the West from democracy/capitalism to socialism/communism. It will go down in history as the worlds greatest/biggest scam.

I recommend the article on the reasons that drugs are expensive. I found it very interesting (and reminded me that Forbes is a GREAT magazine) and thought provoking.

I also recommend Prager University videos. They are all well worth the few minutes it takes to listen to them. The one suggested today on honesty being the best policy is no exception.
