Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

A failure of democratic processes

Leftists and statists are always quick to proclaim Market Failure when free markets (aka people) do not do what they want.

They hate other people who disagree with them, or disregard them. It just ain't RIGHT and we should be FORCED to do what they want.

they hate people, period.
The whole "climate change" movement is firmly rooted in eugenics and malthusian thinking, the underlying ideology being one of depopulation of the planet (iow, killing all humans (except themselves and a few slaves to keep them comfortable of course)).

Socialist Party.
Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968) Socialist Party Presidential Candidate in 1940, 1944 and 1948, co-founder of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Norman Thomas said this in a 1944 speech: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."

When people point to "market failure," I always wonder what they think a market success would look like. As if the purpose of a market were to ensure that no one ever lacked for anything he wanted.
