Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Hating Pumpkin-Spice Lattes Is Sexist

Hipsters are new conformist sheep. If you don't like what they like and get in line - you are a hater.

This is what happens when too many people don't have a real job, have no real strengths or challenges. When life becomes so "easy" all you have to do for your 15 minutes of fame is bitch and gripe. When you've achieved absolutely nothing and do nothing constructive, you have absolutely all the time in the world to be a fascist and insist everyone like what you like, because you are superior.


It's not masculinity, hidden sexism or any other bulls$%^ millenial codeword.
This girl would punch her in the throat just for being a useless oxygen thief.

"People love to hate on what girls like." Okay, snowflake. Here is one woman who doesn't like pumpkin-spice lattes. No hate on, gal, just not buying same. And, by the way, I am much too busy to have a "hate on" about latte flavours. I'm too frugal to buy lattes, anyway.

Dodd-Frank gives a competitive advantage to bigger banks and thus bigger companies as well? My stars! Who could have imagined that? We were assured repeatedly that Democrats (note: some Republican blame here as well) are for the little guy. Something must be wrong here.

Who woulda thunk? With all the brouhaha over the last financial fiasco, we now have bigger and few banks, larger and few healthcare insurance companies, fewer and more powerful media corporations, bigger and growing debt to China et. al., more and less transparent government in general, fewer and few freedoms as stated under The U.S. Constitution, larger and more absurd paychecks for people who do nothing but churn money for redistribution to their cronies, a more imperial and less responsive presidency, an ever fragile and more dangerous world at the whim of terrorists…and so forth.

You folks missed/ignored the White Supremacist Post. I am soooooooooooooooo fearful now, of myself, as clearly not being supreme in any way, I must be filled with H8, yet I don't feel that way.

"It's extremely rare for large ships to disappear": back in the day, and I'm talking about the early 1960's, there was a ship which was loading grain at the Vancouver (Canada) port November - December. Said loading was a horror story, with everything that could wrong did. Finally sailed. Then, over Christmas, saw pictures of said ship either aground or drifting offshore in the Pacific (can-t remember details). No crew members to be seen. To my remembrance, the mystery of why the crew abandoned ship and their fate was never solved.
