Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

You're either with Chik-Fil-A or you're not, but one thing is for certain - if you want chicken, you're going to need a hen and a rooster.
What are black kids taught to admire, is the question.
It's not good character and grace. QUOTE: Time to talk about gun free zones Umpqua Community College is not a gun-free zone, and many people on campus had concealed carry weapons. Guns were banned, but many students carry anyway in defiance of the ban.
So I'd say that does not tells us how many would carry if there were not a ban. http://www.rawstory.com/2015/10/its-not-a-gun-free-zone-firearms-were-common-on-umpqua-community-college-campus/ Ahem. From the Oregon State Board of Higher Ed: "Oregon's higher education board unanimously adopted a policy that will ban guns from most corners of campus life at the state's seven universities"
“except as expressly authorized by law or college regulations.”
Zach is right – anyone with a concealed permit can carry on the Umpqua Community College campus, provide that:
• they do not enter any building or facility • they are not a student there • they are not an employees of the college • they are not a contractor working at the college • they are not attending a ticketed event etc. Confusion reigns, because many of the state's colleges and universities had a ban on all persons having firearms on campus, and in the case of the big state system this was ruled to be a breach of state preemption law on firearms regulations, and thus invalidated. So there was big news in late 2011 that campus-carry was allowed – and perhaps not-so-big news in 2012 that the statewide public college governing bodies had reintroduced new policies that don't go so far as "preemption" but do bar weapons in all but outdoor spaces (and sometimes even then) for anyone who has any contractual relationship with the institutions. http://www.publications.ojd.state.or.us/docs/A142974.pdf, p5, lines 4-9 Douglas2: Confusion reigns
Quite so. In any case, many on campus concealed carry.

It was common knowledge that people concealed carry. Here's one:

Still not in buildings, per the Oregon BoHE. Last I checked, this was all indoors.

Good to hear the students rebelled at the cancellation of America Pride Day. After all, why ARE those foreign-born students in that town?
U-mass is cutting its athletic depts.? Good strategy for funding science depts. Don't need all those bulging muscles on men or women in the science labs.
The left MUST ban guns! Whatever it takes guns must be taken away from citizens. It is impossible to have a Marxist revolution if every Kulak in the Ukraine had a gun Mother Russia wouldn't have been able to take their food and starve 8 million of them to death. The Democrats MUST take your guns. Ask why? It has nothing to do with safety and in fact the evidence shows that when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. Socialist/Democrats cannot help themselves from devolving into Marxism and totalitarian rule.
GWTW: it has to do with Control.
I offer some words from Col. Jeff Cooper, taken from his excellent book, The Art of the Rifle: "Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys." "The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, because a citizenry armed with rifles cannot be tyrannized." . no offense intended, chas, but ...
"I now take my tool of power to secure meat for the table" sounds like badly written porn. but seriously, I never destroy my enemies in groups. I destroy them individually, with my bear-hands, resisting tyranny every moment of the day. None taken. It does read rather badly.
Ah, well, Cooper was not the best locator I've heard. Donny: I, ahem, owe you an apology for my reactions to your comments.
I recently changed my chemo (for multiple myeloma) and the new stuff pulled me sideways. It usually has taken a week or so to adapt to the new drugs. Oh, I meant to say that Cooper was not a good locutor. don't worry about it, I enjoy the sparring with anyone who can hand it right back to me.
you're a good guy, no matter what everyone else says.
