We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Pope Francis Doesn’t Understand How to Alleviate Poverty. This pope is not equipped for either politics or diplomacy. Those are not his jobs anyway. His special job is ministering to poverty of spirit and not material comforts.
excellent start. now let us discuss this in context.

Shame on you for dissing the Pope. He's the head of the Church, whether you acknowledge him or not. I'm a Protestant, but he is the best thing to happen to organized Christianity in years. People are sick of Protestant evangelicals who prefer the rich to everyone else( in South America the death squads were often headed by fervent Protestant evangelicals) and wizened Conservative Curia tools. Jesus was hated by the principalities and powers also. The Pope is no Christ. He has many flaws and blind spots, as all of us sinners do, but he is bringing souls back to God and could revive Catholicism. You should pray for him, not snark at him.
I'm sorry to sound belligerent here, because he chose a beautiful name. Would you also have carped at his awesome namesake? As a greedy, wrathful sinner I am glad when a spiritual leader calls us back to the Gospel. As they say in the Narnia stories, Aslan is not a tame lion. And I don't want a tame religion either....also, remember the wise words ofGamaliel: "If it is of God, it will endure". Give the Pope time, and he might blaze a path even current scoffers will want to tread.
I think not. I think he is a Marxist elitist and he intends to rob the rich to give to the church (I mean the poor). Does he understand that would kill the goose that layed the golden eggs? Yes I think he does but like activist popes and kings in the past all that matters is that they have those golden eggs and the peasants don't. so do not under estimate him.
he doesn't care about your world or your worldly concerns or "marxism" or political or economic theory. you I assume claim to be a christian (or at least a protestant) but you don't understand that your savior's kingdom is not of this world. of course you hate him because your version of christianity begins and ends with a whitewashed church with a little steeple and a back patting sermon.
hard to grasp, but maybe if you lifted your eyes out of the dirt.

I understand the pope quite well and I am not wrong about him. I understand you quite well too.
