We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

This is where the knee-jerk do-gooder types don't quite "get it". Systematically providing aid and shelter to hundreds of thousands of people isn't the same as offering the sofa bed in the basement rec room to someone down on their luck.

This is "tough love": the first thing you need to do if you are going to bring in large numbers of refugees is to impose rigid controls and order on the process.

It's basic. That's the point of it. But take it to a typical US college campus and I'd bet the average score would be about 65%. and people who post "I Love Fucking Science" memes to social media would be even lower.

What do they call the medical school student who was at the absolute bottom of the class? Doctor.

Concerning the 10,000 refugees that Barry is bringing to the US.
I assume they are being flown in? And the exact reason that (once in the air) the aircraft can't fly them back to the Mid-East is what?

What that idiot in the Red Shed should have offered was to provide free transportation for any and all Syrian refugees to any nation in the Mid-East they desire. I hear Saudi Arabia is nice this time of year. After all, no language, food or cultural problems and of course Islam!

Regarding the Columbia nonesense: Getting drunk absolves you of responsibility for ensuing sex? What would happen if we apply that principle to driving!

Europe is setting themselves up for centuries of open conflict, no-go zones, treason/terrorism and dysfunctional society. That is the best possible outcome. A perhaps more likely outcome is that Europe self destructs in a civil war or mass invasion (depending on what the victors choose to call it).

As bad as this mass immigration/invasion looks right now it is just the beginning, the tip of the ice berg. IF everything goes reasonably smoothly and a couple million "refugees" are absorbed it is just the first step. It will be quickly followed by tens of millions of family members who will be reunited into Europe. This will be an economic, social, legal and criminal disaster before it is over. In a few short years you will be seeing entire nieghborhoods in Germany burning, rioting and murdering. This isn't difficult to foresee so you have to wonder what the leadership is thinking.

D.C.Plastic Bags Tax: Once the money comes in, gummints find other uses for it. LOTS of other uses.

Science Test: Purty dang easy.

Income inequality could be reduced by more jobs. Wouldn't it be neato-keeno if we gave that a try?

Settled Science: I can guess why some would not want their research researched.

Europe: Having pretty much eliminated firearms from the public, they are now letting in people who know people who know where to get pistols and rifles.
